I think it’s important to do what we can to make things better. I grew up in Wisconsin and went to graduate school in Massachusetts, San Diego and in Los Angeles. I enjoy traveling. I lived in Germany for six months and visited many countries in Europe as well as China, Egypt, and Russia. I work as a researcher for UC Berkeley and I've sometimes taught classes at community colleges. I'm very independent and find it easy to spend lots of time alone. I stopped eating meat 44 years ago, and while I've toyed with veganism on and off over the years, and nowadays many of my meals are vegan, but I've never made the big jump.
My favorite activities include reading, gaming, walking, eating, biking, watching comedy (and other things), traveling, and exploring new things. I work informally with 3D graphics, both digitally and in the real world (via 3D printing).

I'm active & like bicycling, LOVE skiing (hoping to race this season), necking, travel (Europe & Mexico about 8 times each, want to experience Asia, Australia), reading (intrigue, history, psychology), film (especially independent and foreign), necking, cooking, ethnic restaurants, music (various kinds), necking, camping, snorkeling... Did I mention necking? ... I really like necking. Fairly good communicator, but strive to be better... Grunting, whining, and pointing seem to suffice in most situations though. Right? I'm 53 (practically dead), work half-time at UC. Also freelance Mac consulting & database programming. No kids (been to the vet, so no active swimmers), no drugs or bugs... AND, I have great parking karma! Friends describe me as relaxed, warm, fun/funny, trustworthy, loyal, but then, they're friends so they're obliged to say such things. On the other hand, I tend to agree with them, which might be why I keep them around. (I do realize that this may be self-deluding).

I love Berkeley and have lived here for 10 years on and off. In between, I love to travel, especially to Israel. After a long day at work, I usually like to spend quiet evenings with a book or taking a long walk in the hills or the dog park with my dog. I like to go to the theatre, concerts and movies. I enjoy cooking, particularly for someone else. I prefer to eat at home even though I do enjoy restaurants. However, restaurants can be frustrating to a kosher vegetarian.
