I would rather embarrass myself than see it happen to somebody else. I like being on the inside of inside jokes and knowing the moves to secret handshakes. I try not to take life too seriously, but that can be very hard sometimes. Generosity, compassion and a sense of humor are extremely important to me. Animals usually get my attention and sympathy more than people do. Dog people are really my kind of people. I think that a warm smile and friendly disposition make for the best first impression. I tend to make friends whenever I go out. I am originally from southern Vermont, but I've always wanted to live close to Boston, so I'm glad I'm finally living here. I've moved around the country quite a bit in the past few years, so it's great being close to my family again. I moved to the Boston area from Virginia. (I grew up in Northern Virginia which is basically a suburb of D.C. so no southern accent.) My verdict on Boston: I love the history, culture and general quaintness of Boston but I'm less of a fan of the road system :) I spent a long time in graduate school and definitely have an intellectual side. I'm a bit quiet but not shy. Perhaps because of this I've been told that I'm easy to talk to. I love to travel whether I'm visiting exotic places or just going somewhere I've never been before. I recently heard the average couple spends 10 minutes a day in communication. Really...10 minutes? All-righty then, I'm not seeking average! I bought a house this year. That has been fun! Buying new things, searching for special pieces and finding them every now and then. I just had 3 days at Tanglewood listening to James Taylor and Carole King. I had a chance to meet with them each day and I had a ball. And I plan on taking some time off in a few weeks to do some extensive landscape work at my place. I'm really excited about the chance to make the yard a very special place. I may even rescue some chickens and a goat or two. One thing I really appreciate about this site is it is geared towards someone who eats a plant based diet. For me, being in a relationship with someone who is veggie or vegan is extremely important. It says a lot about you, your values, and your heart.

I'm a very happy raw food enthusiast. Threw out my stove and oven three years ago. I feel very at home eating raw. I'm a photographer with a thriving business and great clients. I care about the environment and wish small actions could have larger effects. I love spending time outdoors. There is a place near Boston where you can collect great spring water and that is the only water I drink. After collecting spring water I go for a walk with the dog in the woods. I am adventurous...would rather be out trying something new than sitting in a movie theater. Not that movies don't have their place...especially in the winter. I love New England - all the seasons. I work out and am fit - being healthy is a major part of my happiness. I love wordplay in conversation and crossword puzzles. Reading, talking - serious topics and lighthearted ones. I've traveled a fair amount (NPole, Antarctica) and will again but my desire at the moment is keeping my carbon footprint small.

It's been about a year now and I'm ready to meet new people. One of my biggest attributes when looking for someone to spend time with is their view on animal rights. I am a vegetarian and I am a member of PETA, a proud one. I have been toying with the idea of interning for them, but life requires a steady paycheck. Someday. So I'm trying this again after a year of being "unpaid member." I'm really bad at self-description. I love strong coffee, smart conversations and contented silences, rainy days spent drinking tea and reading, and of course friends and family. I manage a coffee shop and love it. No "little black dress" in my closet. I sold my 16-year-old Toyota Corolla recently and now bicycle/walk/T everywhere, with the occasional Zipcar thrown in to get the dogs (Corgi and mutt) and cat to the vet. I'm a very low-maintenance, easygoing person in general. I would rather see The Pretenders, Squeeze, or Kathy Griffin at the Orpheum than see Springsteen (though I am a Jersey girl) at the Garden. I have a Facebook page that is almost completely inactive. Books, Bogart movies, and finishing the Saturday New York Times crossword puzzle are fun, as is the occasional Adult Education class (plan to take Spanish this fall). Just wanted to say I'm not desperate or anything, I just want to see if I can actually find someone who is also vegetarian/ vegan. I've been vegetarian for almost a year now and am loving it more every day. I love to cook so thinking up new and exciting dishes is fun. I am not a health nut but I take good care of my body. Quit smoking after a year, am an avid exerciser and beside the veggie eating style, I eat a very healthy diet (no candy, soda, any junk food). My guilty pleasure is drinking (not binge drinking). Well, I've been a vegetarian since my senior year in college and I became vegan about 8 years ago. I love to travel, snowboard and mountain bike. If I could do all 3 at the same time that would be the perfect vacation. I like doing exciting things as much as I like to sit around and relax. I truly appreciate a quiet dinner with close friends and loved ones. I don't think I'm ever too old to learn new things (except how to jump out of a perfectly functioning airplane). About 13 years ago, I had health issues - high blood pressure and high cholesterol, among a few other maladies that were signs of age and disease. I started substituting and eliminating certain items from my diet, and each change would simply make me feel better. I added a little exercise to the lifestyle, and within 6 months had lost 50 pounds, reversed the HBP and cholesterol levels, as well as reversed the beginnings of arthritus. One year into the new lifestyle, I had made so many changes that I realized one day that I was, in fact, vegan. It was completely evolutionary, and not specifically intentional, although I am now rather proud of my way of life. But by the process of improving my health, naturally evolved my spiritual self, and, of course, my respect and love for all things natural. I'm not a true activist, but rather a defender of animals in my casual interactions and discussions with my fellow two-legged creatures. I believe food has really called me my whole life. And I truly believe humans to be omnivores only in necessary situations. I have so few vegetarians in my life, if any at all, but it has been me since I was 11, of course I went through all different levels of commitment. I like to hike, or just to go for long walks (cliche, but what could I put here that isn't?) I don't believe in sex without a true soul connection, not necessarily love or a soul mate, just someone who can see your truth and not reject that.
