Howdy! :) My name is Jay. I'm a little over 5'11" (182cm) with brown hair, blue-grey eyes, an easy smile, a soft heart, a hard body, and a passion for freedom and the natural world (and our return to that garden paradise with others who are equally awake, inspired, and determined to "love with their whole hearts or die trying").

My degree and "formal education" (in economics) I now count as nothing. I have a big, newly realized passion for building and creating a community of truly free people. I mean free, like the trees, birds, and all other living things. Free as in not desiring connection with our dying "civilization". Is it civilized, 200+ years of persecution of the first settlers of North America?... Is the endless breaking of treaties not barbaric? How about the stealing of lands? Murder?...

I'm keen on doing better. I'd like to connect with someone else who's confident we can.  I am a vegan-ish vegetarian leaning towards raw veganish, but I don't much like labels or to "identify" as "something". I don't fit well into boxes, but the Matrix always seem to like to put people in them.  Wanna break some with me?.... I occasionally eat honey and bee pollen (see, there's a broken box right there!). In fact, I LOVE them both. I occasionally also eat raw cheese (maybe twice a year). I think veganism has gone off the deep end, taken a good concept and blown it out of proportion... we are all part of the cycle of life on Earth. Vegan philosophies, for me, are less about health and more being trendy... it's like austerity measures applied to diet. As for me,

I want to integrate more and more completely with the wisdom of Mother Nature and all of her members... I find her mezmerizing! She is the consumate engineer, the consumate artist... she is pure beauty, truth, love. Exactly the things I aspire to be!:)  You too?

I have learned to slow down and think about my actions.  I am looking for someone with similar depth and who's thought about the meaning behind the things they do. I AM ALSO SEARCHING FOR LIKEMINDED PEOPLE TO GROW A COMMUNITY BASED ON CRUELTY-FREE LIVING, A DEEP CONNECTION WITH NATURE AND NON-TRADITIONAL OR NEW CULTURE! My sexual orientation doesn't fit well in a box either (sigh!)... I got rid of my mask, my ego, and stopped pretending to be satisfied with a "plain vanilla" kind of relationship.  A 50% success rate for marriage doesn't suggest it is the right answer for a lot of people, does it?  And how many of those marriages that don't end in divorce are really "happy"?  I think many people are lying to themselves, and they identify so strongly with the socially acceptable ego-mask they are masquerading in, that they don't really know who they are or what they want!  That was me once, but I no longer care about social norms more than what I feel in my own heart.

I value honesty and commitment. I think love is bigger, more beautiful, more gentle, more wild, more honesty, more fascinating than people (most people) plugged into the system can handle. And sex for me is the zenith of spiritual experiences. I love diversity and the uniqueness of the individuals I have met who have had the courage to take off their masks and live free ('cause the truth does set you free!). If this resonates with you, get in touch!  Let's have fun walking the path less traveled and disappear into the wild world of the living together!

How do you feel about traditional social norms (does a life of compliance appeal to you)?

I enjoy eating healthy and exercising regularly. I've been a vegetarian since I was 18, trying to transition to vegan eventually. I really appreciate the benefits of this lifestyle. I'm into cycling, motorcycling, jogging, going to a lake or beach, visiting museums, live theatre, sporting events, dancing salsa and any outdoor activities. I'm trying to become more minimalist. I'm interested in traveling more of North America and the world.

jen, a Vegan in Winchester jen

Vegan diet.

I'm newly single after a few years. I moved out to the sticks during Covid (I'm one of those people who fled the city because it was getting too crazy) and I love country life, but it is hard to find likeminded people.

I've been vegan nearly 20 years and was vegetarian many years prior to that. Ethical veganism is a must for dating.

I don't fit a lot of typical boxes, and I am an always-evolving work-in-progress. I used to be so far left I was basically a communist; my immense distrust of state power these days classifies me more as pacifist-libertarian. I've been down the woo-woo road and used to be that girl who needed your natal chart before a first date; I overcompensated with a detour into "we're all machines" materialism for a while, and now am quite spiritual but not at all attached to any organized religion. I was raised in a wildly dysfunctional home that I used to blame for all my problems, then I was convinced for a while it's all nature, no nurture...and now I'm less concerned about who or what to blame and more interested in identifying and working through my own BS.

I'm over a decade sober, and as part of my recovery I practice (or try to, however awkwardly and uncomfortably and imperfectly) radical honesty.

I am vegan for ethical reasons. It causes me great anguish to think about animals suffering, being treated as mere property, and having their lives shortened simply because they taste good.

I aspire to seek truth, be honest, and to live the golden rule. I believe nature is to be revered and not conquered, that the current division of the planet between human and nonhuman habitats is badly out of balance, that people should be held responsible for themselves. Aside from being unconventional, I’m articulate, well mannered, affectionate, very tactile. I value simple living--I live in a walkable neighborhood, I bike 5 minutes to and from the gym in the morning, and I do errands on foot whenever possible. I enjoy vigorous daily exercise, hiking (day hikes & serious backpacks), bicycling (usually 30-50 miles), listening to music, reading, movies at home, home maintenance projects, gardening, my cats, travel. Now that I am retired (as of May 2019), I plan to volunteer with animal welfare organizations and possibly the local schools. I’m a bit of a loner, lately more than I’d like to admit, but I do my part to carry a conversation. With regard to religion, I don’t pretend to know much. My intuition tells me that life has meaning that transcends the self and humankind.

While I am earnest and values and character are extremely important to me, I’m not serious on an everyday basis.  I do like to play!

i'm a Reiki Master and Master Herbalist, I've studied Shiatsu, Yoga, Body Electronics,I Ching,12 steps, and my new love which i wish i had found years ago is Permaculture.

Tantra/karma yoga best describes my current spiritual practice with a healthy dose of Christian forgiveness and non judgement

I play at the piano, fiddle around (Old time, bluegrass), do some contra and cajun dance, and am developing an alternative energy lifestyle. i'm living off the grid using wind and solar for electricity, wood/solar for hot water and heat. i bought 30 clear cut acres near yogaville, va 17 years ago, and this land has captured me. nice creek, rolling hills, and a growing forest provides privacy, quiet and wonderful night skies. A recent Permaculture course gave me techniques to make the place even better, so that process is well underway

The separated status in my profile header is not that complicated, we are friends (no benefits) she is not a citizen so benefits from my medicare eligibility. she lives about 90 miles away, our property settlement is agreed on and almost complete, and when she qualifies for medicare on her own we will likely divorce.

Re: travel, I can enjoy anyplace i find myself and did snowbird for a while before i became aware of global warming, but now i definitely value all the time i get to spend away from infernal combustion engines, (except maybe backhoes and tractors when it's time to build a pond). Not saying I love them, but they sure beat picks and shovels.

I really enjoy my life, i often laugh at myself as i stumble around and marvel at the perfect grace that occasionally inspires me, although really it's all divine, just another day in paradise

“We kill tens of billions of wild animals to protect the animals we eat. We then destroy our environment to feed the animals we eat. We spend more time, money and resources fattening the animals we eat, than we do feeding humans who are actually starving.

The greatest irony is that after all the expense of raising these animals, we eat them, and they kill us… And instead of recognizing this insanity, we torture and kill millions of other animals trying to find a cure to the diseases caused by eating animals in the first place.

When it comes to eating, humans are without question the dumbest animals on the planet.”  ~Mike Anderson

I am in a bit of a dilemna in that I am a committed Christian -- follower of Jesus -- but I am also vegan and tend to be more progressive politically and concerned about the earth and preserving it -- as well as our democracy -- than many of those who may share my spiritual but not dietary, environmental or political views. I like to be active, eat well, and am on a lifetime learning journey.

Thanks for stopping by.  Like any profile, this only scratches the surface in describing who I am - we are all such complex beings of energy, here on the Earth working through our unique lessons.  But here goes...

I became a vegetarian nearly 2 decades ago, partially for health reasons, but also as part of my spiritual path in my respect for all living things.  I follow the spiritual meditations of the Essenes in my daily practice as I have found this helps me to maintain my connection with the Divine and my grounding with the Earth.  It is all about the balance, feminine and masculine - but also social justice and compassion.  With my current diet, I could easily transition to vegan.

I've retired once already which has given me more freedom to pursue my passions.  Therefore, besides doing home improvements, I am writing, teaching, and leading groups in meditation and other spiritual practices.  Most importantly, I turned my attention to the study and practice of healing arts and modalities.  I offer healing through Jikiden Reiki, and other techniques to help clear childhood trauma.  The practice of these healing arts, meditation, yoga, and exercise are important to me.

I am an advocate of environmental protection and preservation - trying to reduce my footprint and finding time to be outdoors as much as possible.  My children are grown and off on their own adventures in life.  Years ago, I adopted an OTTB from the Equine Rescue League and I visit him often, as he is boarded at a farm nearby (long story) - he is quite a personality in his own right.

Love, laughter, music and song, and all forms of creative expression are present and welcome in my life.  I have a quirky sense of humor (there's new material every day).  I would love to take in a concert or symphony, catch the latest film, go out to dinner, and travel - once the restrictions of Covid-19 ease.

One of my favorite quotes is by Byron Katie:  "If you realized how beautiful you are, you would fall at your own feet".

I hope that gives you an idea of who I am - for more you'll just have to ask.  (Photos from February - March 2021, except for the picture of my horse - when we were both younger).
