I'm a retired urban refugee living in the middle of twenty wooded acres on which this summer I'll start a conventional two-bedroom house that I'll be building myself. I'm politically to the left, progressive. I'm fairly active: generally walk several miles both morning and evening, bicycle and backpack. In the past ten years I've hiked the Cascade crest from Rainer to the Canadian border as well as many other Cascade trails. Once this house project is finished I intend to do a bit of backpacking each summer somewhere in the West starting with the John Muir Trail in the High Sierra. Over the years I've done a little reading -- a little fiction, biography, history, psychology, and religion as well as a tiny bit of political philosophy and economics. I know my way around a kitchen and enjoy participating in meal preparation. I tend to be easygoing, to keep it light, and to treat others with respect. And I like people who are similarly inclined.
