Free of debt since 1989, I've never used a credit card. I earn money by studying, buying, and selling common stocks and mutual funds; I can do so almost anywhere I can use a telephone and internet connection. I find my work fascinating, challenging, and enjoyable. I especially enjoy being outdoors at night and in dry thin air with a gentle breeze. I enjoy cold air when I'm prepared for it; I can always wear enough clothing in cold weather, but can't remove enough in hot. I listen well and laugh during much of almost every day. I will never own or voluntarily live in a household with any member of another animal species; H. Jay Dinshah, former president of The American Vegan Society wrote, "We have no right to perpetuate the system of distorting and utilizing animals as property for our supposed benefit, and few people would even want to keep these creatures in their original natural forms. This is certainly true of dogs also, whose ancestors were wolves, . . . ." I enjoy quiet, and hope to establish true friendship, which I believe essential to a successful marriage, with a woman whom I'll be able to talk with pleasantly, and often deeply and seriously about any subject that both of us find engaging. Though I set limits on what I give attention to, my curiosity is almost boundless. Many subjects are too arcane or abstruse for me to study, however much I wish to know them, but I'm almost always open to hearing them discussed, even if I have no hope to understand them well. Many a vegan or total vegetarian who can communicate with me is likely to move me to try new things; many of them I would readily engage in with a true friend.

I first became a vegan because I started developing an awareness that animals had consciousness and feelings. Then I read a book called "Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating" and realized all the health and environmental benefits of going vegan.
I'm also a very spiritual person. In a way, I believe I've been questing to learn the truth my whole life, I just didn't realize it at the time. I tried a variety of Christian churches, studied some shamanism, a Sikh friend in graduate school introduced me to Indian spiritual traditions, etc. I even went backpacking through Asia on what I refer to as my quest for englightenment. They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears, because when I returned home, I found a meditation teacher who taught me sound and light meditation, and I finally found the path that is right for me.
I'm very concerned about the impact livestock have on the envirnoment, and helped found a non-profit / NGO that has done presentations to the British members of Parliament to encourage more vegan eating.
After going vegan, I worked with doctor of Oriental medicine to help me cope with some health issues, and am quite passionate about using diet to reverse disease.
I love the out of doors and enjoy hiking, and doing just about anything in the sunshine. I also really enjoy doing yoga.
Growing up, I lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, California, London, Norway and Colorado. As an adult, I've lived in Scotland, Washington DC, Virginia, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley. Now I am staying near my family in rural Wyoming, but I come to Salt Lake fairly frequently.
