I'm new to the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle and looking to meet more like minded people. Traveling is my passion and would definitely like to be with a woman who shares a love for it as well. I'm open-mined to any activity, love the outdoors, and yoga.

Peacocking isn't my thing, so instead, I've often relied on my more complex, enigmatic nature proving sufficiently magnetic to others of like mind. And yet, my desire isn't to be a mystery, but to be known, understood, and appeciated; likewise, to know, understand, and appreciate what it's like deep inside you.

How did I become a veggie: I happened to be one of those highly sensitive little kids you'll see or hear of from time to time who at around the age of 5-6 question where meat comes from. Simultaneously endowed with a stubborn, strong will, once I found out where it *did* come from, I became extremely upset, and from that point on, simply refused despite enormous pressures to ever eat it again (my parents did successfully trick me a few times until I caught on). So, I've been at least a vegetarian since age 5 (no one else in my family is). Today, I'm less than a 100% strict vegan (I think it's virtually impossible to be 100% in today's world) but I am more than a strict vegetarian as I avoid as many animal byproducts as I can.
I'm a native of D.C. and spent most of my life in that area. I'm on a temporary stint here in Harpers Ferry (takes me about an hour to get back to D.C.), and plan to move back to Maryland in the next year or so.
I've 3 cats, one a mostly feral that followed one of my other cats home, and who came to entrust me because he saw that other cats did. The other two, I adopted from MCHS.
Realizing humanity's present-day enormous, and unfortunately largely negative impact on the planet, in my day to day life, I try to make my presence here a positive sum gain -- mainly by advocating for animals and environmental causes, and helping animals with whom I come into contact (and many who don't) have a better life as a result of mine.
Some of my many interests (not in order of import):
- movie buff;
- music buff;
- tarot cards;
- warm weather;
- personal growth;
- cool, old technology
- modern architecture;
- going for walks or hikes;
- healthy living and longevity;
- chess, scrabble, Jenga, pool playing;
- have interest in trying yoga and fencing.
Of the old tech one above, for instance, for fun and learning, I'm always restoring some kind of old machine, such as a jukebox or arcade machine. I've completed and sold one Wurlitzer, and am working on 2 AMI's. I've completed one Asteroids arcade game, and am finishing a 2nd, multi-arcade machine.
Some of the people I've admired in one way or another, at one time or another: Joseph Campbell for following one's bliss; Siddhartha for being one's bliss; Carl Jung for understanding one's bliss; Ayn Rand for the importance of values; Jim Morrison for the importance of balancing one's shadow side; Nikola Tesla for his untapped potential + underappreciated brilliance; Frank Lloyd Wright for Falling Water, Taliesin, and the Johnson Wax building; Michael Mountain for his Best Friends work.

My friends tell me I look exotic, but I don't really see it myself. I like to meet people but its so hard without the college scene. I'm really busy with work so going out is an occasional thing. I would like to change that and need a friend especially someone who doesn't get weirded out when I want veggie food. =) I like to be social and make people laugh. I feel like I can fit in anywhere, but appear shy in new situations. I like to be noticed but not stand out too much. My interests are happy hour, or local sports games. I do love to travel and have fun. I enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and just being in nature. I like to drink wine and share moments with friends I care about. I love the theater and concerts. I also can have fun in quiet moments with a good book.

Hi! Thanks for reading my profile. I take chances, work hard, and persevere, but live life with zest while treating others fairly. I love the thrill of a beautiful panorama after a challenging hike on a woodland trail. Walking on a beach listening to the waves crash on the shore and the seagulls crying overhead is calming yet revitalizing. Want to join me on my next trip? I live with my rescue standard poodle who is the sweetest dog I've ever known. We should have much in common in values, likes, and dislikes, but can learn from each other's differences and be respectful of them. A good sense of humor is essential. I'm a happy, positive, easy-going guy who is intelligent, interesting, passionate, and compassionate. I enjoy the beach, mountains, history, NPR, PBS, jazz, classical, country, bluegrass, blues. Love of family is of utmost importance.

I am passionate about human rights, animal rights and environmental justice. I am liberal minded and pursuing my own spiritual path. I like to stay informed of current events and politics. I practice yoga and meditate daily. I also do cardio and weight training at the gym. I love to read and write, listen to music (live and recorded), see movies, plays. Science fiction and horror are my favorite "just for fun" movies and books but I like serious and thought provoking things as well. I have three dogs. They are Jack Russell Terriers so they have a lot of energy and keep me entertained! I am currently on a quest to do things I've never done before so I do look forward to an adventure. I do like to travel. I like to be outside but I have not spent much time in nature in the past so I am looking for all opportunities to get out there now. I like to laugh and make other people laugh, and most of my friends would say I'm goofy - in a good way! I like to describe myself as "geek-chic" with a side of goofy :).
