I believe very strongly in the concept of karma. I am seeking someone who shares the same overall values, and moral and spiritual outlook that I do. Ethical vegetarianism/veganism is a must. I would describe myself as moderate in a political sense, although I'm not generally a politically-oriented individual overall. Suffice to say that in some respects, I'm conservative, and in others, I'm more liberal-minded. I believe in living a lifestyle that is as close to nature as possible, and I believe in practicing the concept of self-sufficiency and adherence to the physical, spiritual, moral, and ethical laws of karmic nature. My spiritual outlook in life is of a more Eastern (Buddhist/Ancient Hindu (Vedic)/Jainist/Taoist) and Ancient Gnostic Christian orientation and influence. All of the aforementioned spiritual belief systems and practices have helped to shape my own personal spiritual belief system and practice at this point in my life.

I am a vegan for moral, spiritual, ethical, and health reasons and I am seeking the same. As far as musical tastes and preferences go, I am generally into sounds that connect and strike a deep visceral chord within me. For the most part, non-mainstream, indie-type music tends to draw me in much more so than sterile, commercialized, washed out pop. Often, it depends on the individual song and the particular mood that I'm in at the time. Oftentimes, I find myself in the mood for something soft, relaxing, and soothing. On other (more rare) occasions, I find myself tempted to listen to something more extreme, intense, and hardcore. The musical genres that I listen to, on occasion, include shoegaze, indie, alternative, classical, instrumental bluegrass, fast virtuosic flamenco, experimental, old school industrial, and old school straight-edge punk and hardcore, among some other interesting genres.

As far as movies, film, and video go, I tend to prefer documentaries, independent film, instructional video, reality-based personal home videos courtesy of YouTube, and online educational lectures and video as opposed to television sitcoms, commercial Hollywood-type films, and mainstream media news outlets and programming.

Some additional information about me: I am also what is known as an intactivist. I believe that routine neonatal infant male circumcision is a crime against nature and humanity. Except in the most extreme medical circumstances, male circumcision, in general, whether conducted in infancy or at a later stage in life, is an unnecessary and barbaric practice of sexual mutilation that can have a permanent, largely irreversible negative effect on an individual's natural sexual functioning throughout his life. This can have a very negative, detrimental effect on the physical aspects of the individual's future relationships which, in turn, can have major negative spillover effects on other important, non-physical aspects of those relationships.

Im a runner, last year while i was station in south Korea, I was part of the Seoul flyers marathon team, i could not run all the races i wanted to, with my work schedule, but I met a lot of outstanding people and am still in contact with the majority of them. i hope to try out for the armies’ Marathon or ten miller team later in my career. i really love to read. all the classics;(James Fennimore cooper, jack london(favorite), hermin melville, a little shakespeare, robert louis stevenson, tolstoy, twain, jules verne) but i really read anything that catches my imagination. tea cups of tea for instance was amazing. a walk in the woods, into thin air, the heart and the fist, into the wild music, my favorite has to be the john butler trio, but really anything you can really jam to; Bob Dylan, the rolling stones, Ben Harper, Avett bros., Xavier Rudd , jack Johnson, Robert Randolph, dirty heads. I just relocated from DC to finish my undergrad in biology (environmental toxicology if the opportunity avails, which may mean a transfer to NC or CA). Excited to live near the mountains, breathe fresh air, run along the Rivanna, ride my bike everywhere, live a block from the farmer's market and have an enormous back yard fit for a king, a garden, and my dog. I'm excited to be in this quaint yet progressive town.

Above all, I am happy! I love to travel, explore and embark on new adventures, love to be outside taking in nature and enjoy biking, running, hiking, swimming in natural bodies of water, adventure races, kiteboarding and would love to get into climbing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. I have been a vegetarian since I was in college and have recently been moving toward becoming vegan. I haven't completely made it there because of my love of cookies. LOL. To stay in shape I do yoga, play soccer and have taken up running although I am not very good at the running thing.

Thanksgiving Day is my favorite holiday (people tend to volunteer more & they are kinder to each other) plus, we all tend to be in a state of gratitude and focused on what we have vs. what we don’t have…(if only EVERY day could be Thanksgiving:)

I just moved to the DC area, and I work from home. So I like to take full advantage of my weekends to get out and about, meet new people, and explore different neighborhoods.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! There's so much to enjoy: festivals, crisp weather, foilage, being able to sip a cup of tea while sitting on a park bench, hiking, or just strolling around the city taking in the sites.

I have a Shih-Tzu named Kai, and although he is 9 years old, he is still a puppy at heart. We have been going to this park nearby for long walks, and I don't know who enjoys this more, me or him!

Travel is a passion of mine (I get to do some travel for work and that keeps my wanderlust in check). My goal is to visit all man-made seven wonders by the end of 2015. I have 2 down (Machu-Pichu & Chichen-Itza) only 5 to go! Next on the list...India's Taj Mahal. Care to join me?

I spend the week in Alexandria and most weekends at my place in the country. There I have about 13 acres and an abode of sorts - and lots of fruit trees - and a veggie garden (at least in my imagination it is vegetable garden). (Well, as long you have realistic expectations.)

Update: If your photos are not recent and without full body shots (fully clothed please) it's highly likely that I'm not going to respond. I met a woman recently who looked completely different than her photos, finding out they were 2 years old and she weighed 50 lbs MORE, this is bad dating business.. It's not the weight that bothered me but the deceptiveness of it all.

I made the choice to eat a vegetarian diet back in the late ‘80s for environmental (water conservation) reasons, transitioned to a near-vegan diet for animal welfare reasons and a full vegan diet for animal rights in the mid-90s. I practiced veganism as something of a religion for some years, and now when I’m honest I’ve most likely prevented slips for health reasons and stay committed for those of a spiritual nature. This has led me to be pretty empathetic to all aspects of the choice to eat a plant-based diet, to which I am steadfast.

For the past 3 years or so, I’ve been fully immersed in pursuing a doctorate, and now I’m close to finishing. Outside of that professional environment I will seek a yoga community and return to the outdoor pursuits that formed my deep interest in nature so many years ago.
