I am in good physical health and I contribute it to my diet. My blood relatives take painkillers, too many, too often, but, in their eyes, I'm the odd one. I exercise (walking, weights, yoga).

I don't push my lifestyle on anyone, but I'm often met with its opposition. I would like to meet someone of similar beliefs so I would not need constantly justify my position on this issue. I need a friend.

First of all, I want to say I am originally from the NJ/NYC area and so I don't have a problem coming there to meet or even someday moving that way again. Just wanted to make that clear for those who might dismiss me as not "local" enough...

I spend a very large part of my free time collecting and listening to popular, rock, jazz and other music from the forties (well, some from before then, too) through the nineties and then a bit of the present day. I don't know what my life would be and have been without for my love of music. It powerfully effects and connects to my senses.

...I do identify as an ethical veg, even though I am too lazy to be all-vegan. But I'd never ever eat a bird(or cow or human). And I think being vegan is good and I can certainly stick with vegan if there's a good vegan cook present (You?).

...I'm also too lazy to be politically active beyond a lot of email petition signing (I frankly don't want to hear about most of what happens as it usually just roils me and I actually prefer to try to enjoy life a bit in spite of how bad it may be in some respects), but I do identify as very left.

I'm really glad this site is here. I feel very strongly about animal suffering and believe that in life we should always strive to minimize suffering as much as we can. Since I signed up for this site quite some time ago I must be honest that I've slipped a bit with my diet but my thoughts and feelings are still the same and I plan on improving my habits once again.

I had some soul searching to do for awhile but now I feel I am once again at a place in my life where I'd like to start dating again. I want someone with similar ideals. Too often I've dated people who were not really compatible. I don't want to change anyone and I know no one wants to be changed. I'd like on the other hand to find someone I could learn from, grow with, become better together. This is why I am here.

Some things about me. I own a townhouse about 20 minutes outside the city but spend much of my free/social time in the city. I like being able to enjoy the city but when I'm done having a quiet place outside of it to return to.

I work at a car dealership and I DJ part time. I play mainly House music. I also intern for The Young Turks which is an online news and entertainment show. Currently I am also wrapping up the last couple classes I need for college. I have a pretty tight schedule right now but I don't mind it. I still find time to have fun.

When the weather breaks I'll look forward to getting back out on my bike. Cycling, not motorcycle to be clear. I rarely get to go kayaking but I always want to. Would be more fun if I had someone to do it with.

My friends bother me about not eating meat, asking "Aren't you starving", "How do you live without eating meat" and "Where do you get your protein". I have been vegetarian for close to twenty years but am leaning toward vegan lately after attending Vegetarian Summerfest in Johnstown, Pa. this past summer, which I highly recommend to all vegetarians. There I met Melanie Joy, PhD and got her book and I also read Diet for a New America by John Robbins. These two books convinced me to go vegan, which I was considering anyway. For me, it is for all the right reasons: moral and ethical issues of animal rights and prevention of cruelty, ecological and environmental reasons, personal health, and above all, the issues of world hunger and world starvation, which we don't see a lot of in this country. Everything has led me to this, is amazing because I really did like eating meat but now for the sake of health and feeling good I am eating about 75% raw and enjoying and prefering it. My journey in this direction started with helping a friend with colon cancer do the Gerson therapy (Juicing 12 times a day and a diet of organic veggies and fruits and a little yogurt for protein) I have been diagnosed as diabetic and hope to reverse that condition by eating raw. Just checking this out. I've been a strict vegetarian for 10, transitioning toward vegan. I also do raw on occasion, with a potluck once a month. I went veg for moral reasons. I listen to metal, industrial, or just about anything else with a good dance beat. I'll dance to almost anything (yea, bring on the polka). I play video games and watch anime so that gets me labeled as a nerd usually, which is fine by me. I love photography and do a bit of alternative modeling. I'm pretty loud and outgoing in small groups but in larger groups, I'm the shy one. I'm 'the weird one' and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

I've been a vegetarian most of my adult life, mainly because of the animal cruelty issue, also for ecological/land use issues and my own spiritual well-being. Plus I just have an aversion to meat. I have recently been divorced and since have made some major changes in my life. I had severe sleep apnea which prevented me from losing weight for years no matter how hard I tried,I since have had surgery for the sleep apnea and have been getting my weight under control, although i will never be, nor would want to be, skinny. I'm an absolute animal lover and an avid rescuer! I work as a veterinary technician and have 9 cats, 2 dogs, birds, fish, a pot bellied pig, and occasionally others, I rescue animals so the numbers change continuously. I have a Sienfeldesque sense of humor, and I play D&D religiously. I don't have children and don't want children, so the best match for me would be someone like-minded. I generally have a mainstream lifestyle. I just started to go camping(alone..well with doggies:)). I look forward to meeting someone to share my life with. I hope someday to have a rescue farm so i can save all types of animals.

I just completed my M.Ed in social studies ed., and due to the lack of opportunities I'm currently back in school to obtain special ed. cert. I also just applied for some case mgr. (behavioral health) positions that I hope I get. I love the outdoors and animals, and used to love volunteering at Ooh-Mahn-Eee farm sanctuary, however after 10 yrs. it recently closed down :o( I have 2 nieces that I love spending time with, and I hope to one day have kids of my own. I'm responsible, but I also have a fun side, mostly just a weird intrinsic non-sensical thing. I love the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and I became a Unitarian Universalist last year and now I love going to church (we're very progressive. i.e, we support gay marriage, we have an AR group, Budhist group, pagan group, etc.) Although I don't know her very well, I'm quite inspired by my Great, Great Aunt Nell who was born in 1897 (she's 108) and is in great physical and mental shape!

I recently moved from the San Francisco to the Philadelphia area since I started a new job. I work in downtown Philly and I'm currently staying in South Jersey. But I will be moving to the city soon. I really enjoy the ocean, whether it’s sailing or scuba driving. Going to Museums, whether art, history or science. And visiting vineyards and wine tasting. I’ve been a vegetarian since college. And while technically I’m a lacto ovo vegetarian, I mostly cook vegan food. I’ve made an effort to become a better cook by taking classes at culinary institutes along with wine classes. So, cartoons, making fun of myself, pulling the covers over my head, listening to music in the dark, and running -for exercise, but on occasion for my life. I like trips to nowhere, cooking new or complicated recipes, awkward silences, slightly wet grass, and driving during snowstorms with the windows down and the heat blasting. There's no one else as crazy as you on the road and you can hear the crunch of the snow underneath the tires. I tend to be on the sarcastic side but I'm also incredibly sincere and I have no problem communicating. My family means the world to me. They're awesome and I feel lucky to have them. Self-employed. I stay in shape, exercise daily, box, jog, floss, recycle, and can keep plants alive. I love middle eastern food, chai, avocados. Futurama, NPR, Radiohead. Having the movie theater all to ourselves -doesn't even matter what's playing. Day trips or weekend trips to New York. I recently discovered the joys of wasting away at the beach -my folks have a shore house. The rest won't fit!
