Hi there :) Animals and the planet are something that's very important to me... it would be great to meet someone that feels the same. I have a busy life and a stressfull job that I'm passionate about (although it's not my whole life), and I love to unwind on a motorcycle, or hiking, or even cuddling up to a nice movie... I'm funny, caring and straight-forward. I love travelling, SCUBA diving, canoing, reading, movies and--gasp!--T.V. (Yes, I'm woman enough to admit it!) Plus, one of the major loves of my life is my giant dog, Johnny. While I've been a vegetarian for more than 10 years, and believe very strongly in my decision to avoid harming other living things, I also believe everyone has to make his/her own choices in life. Dating a vegetarian would certainly make my life easier, but more important that what you put into your body is the compassion you show those around you. Taking care of others, and the planet, is my primary concern. Being a vegetarian is an important part of who I am, but so is being a good friend and a (generally!) decent person. Just being vegetarian isn't enough. What's much harder is carrying that sensitivity into the other areas of your life. That's what I'm currently working on.

I'm fairly left-leaning, and I work at an environmental non-profit--and I love it. I bike to work and now can't imagine having to go back to a regular commute. I go to the gym most days and love being fit--and it's definitely helping my yoa practice. I love to cook--becoming vegan had a dramtic effect on my cooking. I just finished my master's thesis on vegetarianism and public health. It's a field I'm passionate about and has me excited to contribute. I play music whenever I have the chance. I love it when I figure out the chords to a song that's stuck in my head on a given day. I just took up the trumpet too, mostly because of a spontaneous trip to New Orleans. I like to stay active, be it organized (like soccer), or just a random hike. Also, snowball fights = the highlight of any winter. I'm the kind of guy who wants to go on foot and explore any city I'm in. I've been lucky enough to travel a bit (3 continents so far, soon to be 4.) There's an adventurous streak in a lot of what I do. I think life's just more fun if you're not afraid to go after what turns you on. I live and work in Toronto. Although I have no college or university I read alot. I learned computer graphics for a year, I spent a year studying import / export regulations and I like to read "do it yourself" books. I can do basic repairs - I'm no plumber or certified electrician yet. Of course I like movies and various music also. I rarely visit my friends however I like to see them every once or twice / year. I'm currently workin on business although it's a work in progress - it'll take time. Right now I just ride a bike for transportation and I like to try to keep myself in shape lifting weights at least once evry week. I spend alot of time on the internet reading into vitamins and minerals / alternative medicine. If you're a vegetarian nutritional health and research is extremely important - although I usually smoke 1/2 of a cigarette in the morning to help to start the day right before I go to work. Friends say that I am unnervingly calm, perhaps it is due to meditating daily. I love Renaissance and Modern literature (and not much in between), spending time outside breathing clean air (when I can find it), laughing, baking/eating vegan desserts, listening to music (no one type really; my tastes span over many genres), dancing – especially to new wave 80s, the brit-pop 90s and the new millenium dance-punk. I love to take road trips to the country, or another city, whenever possible. Currently I am a bartender to pay the bills and a musician to nourish my soul (though both of these occupations have me spending a little too much time in the pubs). After all is said and done I think I can summarize my focus as being on the Yogic vows of Ahimsa (non-harming) and Karma (doing good works). I am no mother Theresa, but I try to gently steer myself and others in a positive direction. Sometimes I just like to make people laugh, and sometimes that is enough.

I am a 36 year old who has recently become vegan. I have been vegetarian since I was 9 and I decided that it was time to align my beliefs with my actions. A bit artsy but also a bit reserved at times, a bit funny but also serious, outgoing, friendly, personable, presentable. I am an ethical vegetarian (not quite a vegan, probably about 99% vegan). I just don't think that it is right to kill animals routinely for our own selfish food consumption. I don't wear any fur but do wear leather shoes, mostly because I just haven't found a comfy alternative, and I do a lot of walking. I sometimes wear a couple of older leather jackets which I bought before becoming vegetarian, but would never purchase a leather jacket now. I like many types of music (used to be a singer), art, interior decorating, gardening, landscape design, antique shopping, drives in the country, and preparing a nice vegan meal with someone who appreciates and truly enjoys it. (It is too difficult to date a meat-eater!) I have one child - a wonderful, socially conscious daughter who is going to university out of province. I also have two cute dogs - I LOVE dogs!
