I really do get along with most people, and I enjoy being around people from all walks of life. I am a people person. Not someone to work in a cubical 8 hours a day. I am not a drinker - never have been. If you know anything about Italian culture, family is everything. So that is very much a part of who I am, BUT, I have had to fight for my independence from that same Italian culture. It is very restrictive and constrictive. I have been the "rebel" of the family, but only in the sense of wanting to come into my own - a birth right, as far as I'm concerned. So there exists a little feminist in me. I've just wanted to be happy in life and I've had to fight for it. I do love to cook, but I don't want it to be my duty. I want a partner in LIFE not a co worker. So, I'll cook whenever i can, but you should be able to cook as well and clean. Everyone participates in the upkeep.   I love to be home and let's face it, home is where the heart is and most people are home most of the time, but I definitely want "us" time away from the home on a regular basis. They say that is key to sucessful long term relationships. Not materialistic at all, as a matter of fact, I think less is more.

In my spare time I like to see movies, go to parks and have picnicks & lay on the grass - be with nature. Love spending time with animals. Love to watch documentaries. More interested in the discovery channel types. Restaurants are nice once in a while. I do LOVE music and LOVE to dance. I like to keep researching and learning in the subjects of philosophy, health, empowerment. Like to exercise. I suppose some travel would be nice...see something we've never seen, do something we've never done, like scuba diving for example. Used to really be into skiing. Still love it ...you know a weekend in Vermont. I do love the 4 seasons - winter, spring, summer & fall. One of the advantages of NY.    Really, I know, the best things in life are free. Simple pleasures...showers make me happy, and there's nothing a bear hug and some chocolate can't fix.

I'm a Spiritual person and meditate daily. Think of me as a non-religious person who respects your spirituality and religious beliefs — they won’t cause any contention. I’m a Lacto Vegetarian and eat what Vaishnavas consider appropriate: no animal flesh, fish or eggs, and no onion and garlic. I enjoy green tea and an occasional cup of java. I can cook.

You’ll find me to be friendly, intelligent, quick witted, an excellent listener and conversationalist. Shy at first, but warm up quickly; better in small groups. Your family, friends and pets too would find me likeable. Oh, BTW, I keep my hair flowing like an Eastern Yogi, but I’m no Fabio!

In the decade past I've been accepting short and medium length technology and management consulting assignments, staying the duration at my clients' business site while engaging in my favorite activities during breaks from assignments. I call New York City home, but where you reside won't be a deterrent as I am quite mobile and love road trips, even cross country.

Planning ahead, I'd like to: A) see as much of America as I can in the next few years, B) spend time in the foothills of the Himalayas over multiple visits, C) and perhaps cruise to the Australian continent to see the Outback, beaches and deserts, the South Pacific and New Zealand, too. I feel that it's important to be able to just talk for hours and to be able to sit with someone and hold them close. Defining relationships outside of marriage really don't count for me, so everyone is a friend or love interest and I like to keep it open and outside of a box. That means I see all acquaintance as having the potential to blossom into absolutely anything. One day I want to get married, and I am saving myself for wedlock~

I'm quite immersed in my Jamaican heritage and can cook the only vegan version I know of ackee an' salfish. I used oyster mushrooms instead of fish and it tastes exactly the same :) So if you like Caribbean food I would love to cook for you!

I'm in a point in my life right now in which I am focused on spreading Love, Peace, Light and Health. I value virtue and kidness over riches. Like Bob Marley said, "I'm not that kind of wealthy".

My name is Lauren, and I have been a vegan for 3 years. For the duration, I feel that I have developed a larger sense of the world as the "big picture." Life, what does it call mean? For me, it's something to consider while hiking in a trail in the woods, or after a long swim.

I am extremely athletic, and devote my life to seeking new challenges. I am a swimmer, and I also practice yoga 2 times a week. A goal of mine is to train for a triathalon. I teach Zumba at a local dance studio. The freedom of movement brings me such joy. Although I do play a few musical instruments and sing, dance has been a more recent form of expression.

I am very relationship-oriented. I have recently ended a long engagement/ on again off again relationship. In my area, I have joined a "vegan" group but sadly, there were few vegans. I will never touch an egg or a piece of cheese for the rest of my life. In addition, there were few members in my age group. Therefore, I have not been able to meet like-minded individuals like myself.

I guess like most people on this site, food and animals are pretty important to me. Ethics aside, I've come to realize I really value a girl who can appreciate a good falafel! I'm one of the lucky one's. I knew my career from the age of 6 and am fortunate to be living that dream. I own my own veterinary hospital, run a non-profit and a day doesn't pass that I'm not grateful for knowing my "purpose" in life. It's important to me to be honest with myself and others, live consciously with passion, and accomplish meaningful things with the gift of life. That's my serious side. I like adventures, and I like being on my own sometimes. Much like Shaft, I am a complicated man. I pretty much just like skippin' down the cobblestones accompanied by feelin' groovy. It'd be really great if I could find someone who could dig doing this, perhaps with a camera to document some of it but who doesn't feel the need to take endless photos. I want someone who wouldn't be embarrassed if, say, one of us were to break out into song or dance while innocuously perusing the myriad tempeh temptations at Whole Foods. Someone spontaneous, compassionate, world-centered but not self-centered, perhaps even eccentric but not "me-centric" -- meaning, hey, he is an important part of the universal but not the center of it.

Nothing makes me happier than laughing, as cliche as that sounds. Laughing while eating fantastic food, with a dog at my feet, or a dog (or 20) passing by, even better. Staying home is good, too. I'd often rather be snug as, yeah, a bug in a rug than out and about trying to have "big fun". If it's raining or storming, that makes it even better. Although a traipse in the rain, perhaps without an umbrella, would be pretty nifty.

I've began my change of diet to exclude meat back in 1988. While I don't care to bring much attention to that outside of fellow vegetarians or vegans, it has become increasingly important that a potential partner would share similar values regarding food choices. Fortunately, in New York City, especially Manhattan, there are excellent options for eating good quality vegetarian meals.

My intimate relationships have generally been few and far between. In the rare case of being smitten, I fall hard. What I value most are loyal trusting relationships that dig deep and wide. There are several friends I've had in my life for 25-40 years, both men and women. I'm a lifelong New Yorker and if I had to choose a way to go out gracefully, it would be while walking the streets of Manhattan, my favorite metropolis. I've also enjoyed many trips to Europe and one to Africa with still a lot left to explore right here in the States.

I'm a freelance photographer, co-founder of a non-profit org which helps nomadic families in Morocco, imaging and web producer for a music program in Red Bank, NJ, have managed a band, and now looking for another venture. I also volunteer occasionally for Memorial Sloan-Kettering and the LRF.

When I tell people who dont know me my age they cant believe it..I wear that badge with pride. Im not fake. I wear makeup for occasions and a little to work but I have no problem going anywhere with out it. I am a very simple person who would rather be in a field hunting wild edible plants or rafting down a river or doing something phsical rather than going out at bars or dance clubs..not a night person any way.
