I am a third grade teacher in the inner city. I have been vegetarian for 9 years- vegan just started this past year. I do a lot of dog rescuing. I own a house in the midtown area of KCMO. I am an artist- painter, specifically. I love live music- all kinds. I spend most weekends at one venue or another catching a show- where I will partake in a couple drinks. (that is, in the winter...it is very cold here. In the summers I will be outdoors in gardens, parks, on walks, swimming, etc...) My parents both died from cancer, so I not only look at being vegan from an animal rights standpoint but also from a health outlook. My brother lives with me- he is high functioning autistic. He super cool- best roommate ever. We have 5 rescue dogs. Most are getting up in their years and prefer napping on dog beds to much activity these days. It is hard to find the combination of a guy who is passionate about vegan lifestyle, yet wants to grab a beer sometime and listen to a metal show or a band somewhere...or jump in the car and go out of town for the weekend. I like to be spontaneous when I can. During the week I have to be the responsible girl and be in bed early and up alert and ready to teach. But my breaks are for adventures. :)
After writing that, it is very all over the place. Sometimes I can be like that. I am super loving and my big heart gets me in trouble sometimes (like taking in EVERY sad stray dog and getting him or her all ready for a new home even when it takes some of my last funds!) I am very silly and I like to play dress up- sometimes without letting anyone in on it. I like to dress in old 60's dresses or southwestern outfits or 50's housewife dresses and show up to teach. My students never get a dull moment.
I love being outside. I can spend my summer vacations wandering through trails in the woods, hanging by lakes or just taking the mutts on a nature walk. I love hitting the local farmers markets and inventing fun new vegan dishes and making big fancy salads. I try to go somewhere new every summer break per recommendation of the Dahli Lama ;)
I love my students and their very diverse population. I have many students from Southeast Asia and South America. Sometimes I spend recess listening to their stories of riding elephants or life in the refugee camps and I am completely fascinated.
That's about it. I have a very busy, cozy home filled with animals and friends. We are our own little makeshift family- it would just be nice to have a man who shares my interests to spend time with.

I love good stories, which is why I'm feverishly working to become a TV writer. I'm fascinated by people and how they work. Good TV is our century's version of the story around the campfire, and it's intoxicating when done right. In fact, stories in any form do it for me. I read like crazy and am in the library several times a week. It's my church. I love my dogs. To me, it's a cosmic injustice that dogs rarely live past 20, yet the jerk who cuts me off on the 405 will probably see 80. I love the chance that life gives us, how it's forgiving and sometimes even offers redemption. I love making people laugh, but it's very hard to make me laugh. You can try, but many have tried before, and only a few have succeeded. Don't feel bad. :) I'd rather be in a friend's house for dinner than on the Sunset Strip, though an evening in a pub is ok by me.

I'm vegan for ethical reasons. I don't want animals to suffer in any way. Several years ago I decided to take my vegetarian lifestyle a step further and cut out dairy because cows on dairy factory farms are treated no better than cows raised for their flesh. And also because of the direct link to veal.
I'm new to Kansas City (December 2012). I moved here to be closer to family. I'm youthful for my age, in both mind and appearance. I'm a free spirit who is playful and affectionate, optimistic, creative, adventurous, and sometimes sarcastic and cynical but in a fun way. I frequently find joy in the little things. I love to laugh and I do it a lot - and often times loudly. :) I'm a bit of a Francophile. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, walking my dog, traveling, working out, bike riding, kayaking, movies, plays, opera, vegan dining/cooking. I'm a big music lover and I enjoy talking music and going to concerts/shows. I enjoy TV. Yep, I admit it. I don't trust people who don't own a TV. :) I'm not a fan of reality TV though and I'm pretty sure that channels like A&E and TLC are contributing to drastically lowering the bar of human conduct. I'm very independent and have a bit of a wild streak. I don't mean wild as in promiscuous - I mean cutting loose with friends and getting a little crazy once in awhile. I am working on the whole vegan thing (close but not quite) I know non-vegetarians are on this site and I'm not apposed to dating a meat eater but if you are on this site and a carnivore then you're kind of a fraud so don't message me. I prefer to date older and mature men who already have kids and do not want anymore because it's out of the question for me to ever have another baby.
