I have been mainly vegetarian since my late twenties, but have been trying to eat a vegan diet since my oldest daughter became vegan over a year ago. I have always loved animals, and the same factory farm images that inspired me to become vegetarian are the ones that are now prompting the interest in the vegan diet.
I enjoy cooking (and eating!), although with a picky teen still at home, it can be a challenge. I like trying new restaurants, especially Thai and Japanese, but basically any restaurant that can cater to vegetarians and vegans is fun to try.
A few years ago I switched careers from being a veterinary technician to a nurse, and though I do miss the animals, I am liking my new career. I have several pets (dog, cats, and guinea pigs) and my dog, Jesse, is my walking companion.
My other interests include reading, walking/hiking, and catching up on my favorite TV series. Though I don’t travel as much as I’d like, I went on my first Caribbean cruise last year and am looking forward to another one in January. I’m hoping to travel more in the future.

I love reading--fiction and non both--and I have been studying nutrition for a couple of years. I live by myself in roomy apartment overflowing with books and plants. I love to hike and bike and swim and cook. I am a cook in two restaurants where I have worked for two and six years. I like people who march to the beat of their own drum and are not just products of culture. I have been vegan for only a couple of years but am proud of the knowledge I have gained and the diet I have fashioned for myself. (I juice and sprout and eat mostly raw.) I am crazy about avocadoes and kale and ginger and kombucha! I don't have pets but I love animals; if I were to have a pet it would be a pig.

I believe in taking care of my body, eating well, drinking in moderation, no smoking, working out regularly, etc. Living a full life is important, but living a LONG full life is even better! I'm constantly being asked for my ID to prove how OLD I am...Very much a planner and goal oriented, but very much the party animal. I'm the kind of person who likes to get the important stuff out of the way in order to provide time for the fun stuff. I'm pretty gregarious, and like to be with lots of people sometimes. But I also have my quiet moments when curling up on the couch with the right person to watch a movie is the perfect thing to do. Family is very important to me. I'm told I have a pretty good sense of humor [very sarcastic], but I'll let you be the judge... :-) At first I seem to be pretty laid back, practical, serious. Don't let that fool you! I have an incredible zest for life and I'm quite passionate. "There'll be plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead!" is my favorite expression. My politics are pretty green [probably because of the First Peoples blood] and I'm a vegetarian but I promise not to be in your face about such things. I love to travel. I spent 4 years in Switzerland and was in Berlin when the Germans celebrated reunification. I speak French fluently. My favorite country is Australia. These days I'll go anywhere if it has a coral reef or a rain forest. I read EVERYTHING. I love to give and receive massages, even took a few courses on it. I've done week long backpacking and overnight kayaking expeditions. I've studied and practiced yoga and participated in a Jewish bris.

I am very empathetic, compassionate, caring, sensitive, warm, friendly, and supportive. I feel intensely for the plight of animals, as well as for people who are suffering. I mentioned animals first only because there are so FEW laws protecting them. I like playing music...listening to fun music... spending quiet times watching movies, talking... swimming, fun games, etc. I'm kind of an introvert but I have a good sense of humor. I'm pretty isolated geographically but will eventually maybe move to a more progressive place. It just hasn't happened yet!

I'm nice... I think thats what most people would call me. As well as kind. I don't like to bash others. I have 2 tats and one lip piercing. I'm all about family, nature, animals and music. I've been a vegetarian for 12+ years and am now leaning towards vegan living. I've been a smoker for awhile, but am looking to quit. I love anything tribal or ethnic. I try my hardest to be both tolerant and compassionate, but a lack of tolerance and compassion on the part of a person can really try my patience. I hate oranges. I'm curious about almost everything. I never tire of learning new things and discovering new people and places. I find consideration and integrity sometimes lacking in today's society and try to do my part by remaining compassionate and thoughtful. I love to dance: while making dinner, in the shower, at clubs...but I'm also classically trained. Some of my other hobbies include, jewelry-making, yoga, wound-debriding (I'm an RN), baking, (responsibly) sun-bathing, hiking, camping, good coffee... I have been a vegetarian for pretty much my whole life and a vegan for 6ish years now. I find my body responds best to no animal products in my diet. However, I'm not into telling others (especially friends, family, potential partners) how to eat. As long as you care about your health and what goes into your body, I think that's awesome.
