I prefer to have a few close friends rather than a large group of acquaintances. I like to joke around a lot, but also to have serious conversation and keeping up with current events, including politics, but to be honest I find myself getting a little discouraged because of what is going on in the world right now. Anyway, I try to focus on the positive things around me which I think is important to do.

Well educated, worldly, spiritual/religious gay man. As a classically trained, professional singer and university Professor, I love what I do; and I regard it as my ministry/calling in life. I love my family -- I have 3 married brothers and several nieces & nephews -- my friends, and my students. My dearest friends are people I have known for over 25 years.
I love to travel, and have been to England and Europe several times. I have studied French, Italian and German, and I plan to study Spanish & Portuguese. I have also sung in Russian, Hebrew, and Latin.
I have sung for many years in churches (mostly Episcopal) and synogogues as well; and I enjoy spiritual pursuits. I have read several books by Neale Donald Walsch, and I consider myself a liberal christian with an expanded consciousness. I believe in reincarnation, and one of my brothers is Buddhist. One of my former lovers is jewish (and several of my friends as well). Some of my dear friends are atheists. A few of my friends are Hindu or Muslim. For 2.5 years, I attended a "New Thought" church in California. I have practiced meditation sporadically over the years.
I have had 3 long-term relationships (4 years, 6 years, and 9 years), and I am now remarkably happy being single. I am still on friendly terms with my former lovers, and one of them remains a very close friend. I would be thankful for a new partner in life, but do not feel that is essential for my happiness, as I believe happiness is a choice.
I was once an ovo-lacto vegetarian (for 2 years), but gave it up. Now, I am striving again to become a vegan, although I have not yet fully attained that goal. It makes me feel heathier. I like to exercise, but I am not a gym-bunny. HIV-negative. I enjoy a nice glass of wine, a good beer, or a Margarita with dinner, but I don't drink to get drunk.
I love dogs, but don't own one currently. I see dogs as "god, spelled backwards" -- they are reflections of God's unconditional love.

There are a lot of ways to have a revolution. Being yourself is the single most audacious act an individual can stage.
Activism has been a constant activity. I was involved politically for over 10 years, once running the local Democratic Party, then running for office, and now working for a non-profit while I chart my next course for this life. I'm also a writer, and I am aiming to create change through words that I once did via politics.
Outside of work, I try to live a full, satisfying life that pays homage to my activist spirit but doesn’t compromise my self-satisfying integrity. Some fight with a sword, but the pen is my weapon of choice. As a writer, I ink monthly articles and columns for Naked City magazine. I discuss lifestyle, culture, community, and sexuality. I will also soon be starting my own blog and getting serious about writing a book. I am constantly seeking freelance writing jobs as well. I also am a programmer for the Tallgrass Film Festival, indulging my craving for stubborn independence by screening hundreds of indie movies annually. I help out with the festival as much as I can, too.
I try to remain as optimistic about life as possibly by always doing things I enjoy. Great joy is gleaned by watching indie movies, going to art shows, experiencing live music, and eating at fabulous vegan or ethnic restaurants. I heart coffee and have a divine love for spirits, especially mojitos! I aim to travel the world, particularly to large cities. I love nothing more than being an urban wanderer.
