I'm not going to invest too much time in this profile until I find out whether or not I can send and receive messages using the free service! I suspect that the answer is "no," in which case, there's little point in writing much about myself. 

Briefly: I'm a bit of a political, social, and intellectual oddball, in that I value genuinely critical thought, rather than the tired old talking points that characterize most public and academic discourse these days. Odder still is the fact that my critical thought process relies less on the influence of materialism and Enlightenment Ideals than on a quasi-religious conviction that every last bit of the natural world is imbued with a spark of the Divine and is, therefore, worthy of our utmost respect. Moreover, I refuse to believe that property rights can even exist in a universe whose occupants are all bound spiritually together by the same soul stuff, let alone that property rights can ever - as they so often are in 21st-century America - be more important than human rights.

Odd as my predilection for critical thought based on non-material convictions may be, it is, perhaps, my predilection for meaning in a relationship that makes me the oddest oddball of them all in 21-st century America. Namely, I'd like to establish a meaningful long-term relationship founded on mutual respect; intimacy; passion and love, not just an entertaining series of casual hook-ups or a transaction entered into for reasons of security, convention, or convenience. I'm much too happy with my life as a single person to settle for anything less than a relationship built on a solid foundation of mutual respect. I'm not overly optimistic of establishing such a relationship through the medium of online dating, but curiosity compels me to continue trying....
