Strength of character and substance are far more important to me than looks. I appreciate intelligence and thoughtfulness and strive to be authentic; my tastes tending toward simplicity and minimalism.

I am an author and activist living in central Florida. I'm the only vegan and liberal I know in this part of the state. I value social consciousness and tire of swimming in a sea of apathy. I've only recently begun exploring other genres of music besides metal and find I am really loving jazz; there's something romantic about it that I think I'd enjoy sharing. I have two rescued dogs that I love dearly, both rescues. 

On other dating sites,  I've had to add the caveat that "my only dealbreaker is animal abuse. If you hunt, fish, or race horses, then we will not have anything much to talk about." I've been repeatedly challenged, incredulously, that fishing isn't abusive. It seems that the rest of the world is oblivious to that which is glaringly-obvious to me.
