Since becoming an ethical vegan just over a year ago, I have become very involved in the kitchen and really enjoy learning new skills and techniques while whipping up a nutritious vegan meal. But more than anything, I love baking homemade treats like brownies and cookies. Other hobbies of mine are boxing, yoga, hiking, and more recently exploring my more creative side with photography and writing. I would like to pick up some guitar if I had someone to teach me.
I work in the fashion industry which is very fast paced and exciting. But I really enjoy slowing down and turning my attention towards others and spending time volunteering. Usually working with dogs or needy women. I'm hoping to eventually internship on a farm sanctuary.

I was brought up veggie but decided to go down the vegan path in 2003. I go through spells of being naughty, I'll suddenly (without warning) eat loads of milk chocolate one day, but then I get back on track quickly after. I became vegan because I don't think animals are less important than me, and the idea of eating flesh just doesn't seem right. I wouldn't want a tiger to eat me...so why would a cow want me to eat it?! How would I describe myself? Well, I'm me. I wake up as me each morning, spend all day being me, and go to sleep (yes you guessed it) as me. I like doing things, going to events, going places, watching things, I like the mountains and the streams, the subway and the city scene. I like this all, but I do most of these things alone. This is where you come into it. I need someone to do these things with, someone to be part of "me", and someone who I can be part of. Life's not supposed to be spent alone, I need a new best friend, someone to be with, someone to spend time with, someone to hold. P.S. I can't dance!

I am a vegetarian for ethical reasons. I like animals fine, some more than others. I don't love them, but I don't want them to suffer or to be killed on my behalf. I'm ashamed of the disparity between rich and poor, angered by the reality of unnecessary suffering, and driven by fantasies about how so much of it could be averted if everyone would just be more reasonable. I value my relationships above all else and there is a long list of amazing people I love and who love me. I'm an advocate for children: for their right to be born into a loving family; for their right to a good education; for their right to healthcare and security. I like intensity, getting to the bottom of things, talking past closing time because we can't let something go. I am from Italy, but lived abroad in the last 5 years, an amazing adventure (but I miss the food!). I am quite an articulate person, always looking for the funny side in everything, but also deep in my beliefs and values. I volunteer when I can (taught English in the past, coaching soccer to a bunch of 7 years old kids at the moment) and love animals. I like to eat healthy, although I am not strictly vegetarian (eat fish sometimes). But I am interested in the topic of factory farms, we can’t expect all the world to become vegetarian but treating animals as commodities is an insult to me. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” by Gandhi is my favorite quotation :) I like living in multicultural cities, but I am very passionate about the outdoors. A picnic or a walk in a park, hiking a mountain, swimming in a lake, they are all some of the greatest pleasures I can imagine. I have gone raw less than 30 days so far and am sold on this life. I like a lot of the benefits and do not really see that there are any negatives. I am a complete novice as far as food prep goes but I've picked up several recipe books and have been dabbling with mixed results. I also have purchased a vita mix which helps a great deal. I have a modest group of friends who are all meat eaters soI'm the first to break away. I am an obsessive music collector to a fault possibly though I am quickly on my way to being a record owner rather than a collector, meaning I like to think I'm close to owning everything I want except for the occasional new release here and there. I am a merchant mariner who work for a marine towing company out of Seattle who ships me from anywhere from 30 to 60 days at a time. I get the same time off when I am through. I would like to possibly find something in raw foods for the future as far as work goes but am not sure in what capacity. I am trapped with a fairly decent job with good pay which makes me stay.
