Vegan diet.
I first became a vegan because I started developing an awareness that animals had consciousness and feelings. Then I read a book called "Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating" and realized all the health and environmental benefits of going vegan.
I'm also a very spiritual person. In a way, I believe I've been questing to learn the truth my whole life, I just didn't realize it at the time. I tried a variety of Christian churches, studied some shamanism, a Sikh friend in graduate school introduced me to Indian spiritual traditions, etc. I even went backpacking through Asia on what I refer to as my quest for englightenment. They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears, because when I returned home, I found a meditation teacher who taught me sound and light meditation, and I finally found the path that is right for me.
I'm very concerned about the impact livestock have on the envirnoment, and helped found a non-profit / NGO that has done presentations to the British members of Parliament to encourage more vegan eating.
After going vegan, I worked with doctor of Oriental medicine to help me cope with some health issues, and am quite passionate about using diet to reverse disease.
I love the out of doors and enjoy hiking, and doing just about anything in the sunshine. I also really enjoy doing yoga.
Growing up, I lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, California, London, Norway and Colorado. As an adult, I've lived in Scotland, Washington DC, Virginia, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley. Now I am staying near my family in rural Wyoming, but I come to Salt Lake fairly frequently.
