My description:

Hi!  I have been on one or two dating sites in the recent past.  The main reason I joined here is because I was surprised to learn that people with whom i would otherwise feel compatible were not always accepting or respectful of my being a vegetarian/ pseudo vegan.  This was certainly a drag, and it happened enough that it started to be a pattern.  If at all possible, I'd like to connect with someone who I obviously have other things in common with, but who could also think it ridiculous to ask me how I get my protein (the dreaded question, after all).  Is this too much to ask?  I guess I'll have to find out!

I am working on finishing a MA degree in environmental studies/ sustainability.  I was a Sociology/ Women's Studies BA.  And of course vegetarian. I have several rescued stray animals in my home (my pets now, of course).  I am a non-profit worker. All of these things may make me seem crunchy granola.  I am not sure I have a crunchy granola personality (whatever that means) but be that as it may, I am feeling like the odd duck on the traditional dating sites, so here I am.  Come and get me veggie date world :)

What I'm looking for: Someone who is really in touch with themselves, what they want, and how to convey it to another person.  In a relationship, someone very much needs to communicate.  For those with previous relationships gone south, the desire to avoid behaviors in future situations that contributed to what happened, or at least the continued effort to address and be aware of them, so as not to fall into similar issues with new people. Self-awareness and ability for self-reflection is important for me.

Someone who considers fitness to be a hobby, someone who likes working out in the gym, even more out of doors, would be my most appropriate match.  A sense of humor that is compatible with my own is very important to me, which would be considered sarcastic/ tongue in cheek.

As a parent, a basic need for me is someone who understands a parent’s situation particularly with the balance needed of time and availability for dating.

"Deal breakers", out of context, may make one seem negative, but some dislikes for me include:

Laziness.  I have a lot of energy, always have, and I would get along well with someone who feels like perhaps they are always the one up for doing things and everyone else is tired before they are! (that's me) This could include going out, going on a day trip to NYC, the beach, hike at Hawk Mountain, etc.

Someone with inconsistently unpredictable moods, and grouchy more often than not would not be a good fit for me.  i'm the same person, day after day, and quite simply, I'm looking to be with someone else who is as well. Defensiveness/ unwillingness to accept one’s share of responsibility in a situation is a final deal breaker.
