My description:

I'm an active, fit, animal-loving tree-hugger. I enjoy spending time in nature. These days I'm obssessed with native-plant gardening and transforming my yard into a haven for wildlife. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and caring for rescued farmed animals. While in Atlanta I involved myself with animal rights activism such as protests and leafletting. I hope to get back involved in that once I'm settled into the DC 'burbs.

If the pandemic ever ends, I hope to resume international traveling. I usually spend a few weeks a year trekking in the Andes or  exploring Southeast Asia with VegVoyages - an awesome vegan tour operator. I take a few shorter domestic trips each year as well.  I;'m curious by nature and love exploring. I'm relatively new to the area, so I've been doing lots of day trips and shorter trips sine I moved here during the pandemic.

In my spare time I play classical piano, work in my garden, read, and work out. I also love to watch documentaries and keep up with current events. As far as reading material, I prefer classics (Tolstoy, Nabakov, Vonnegut, Edith Wharton come to mind).  As far as music, I always enjoy classical chamber music, esoteric South American music, jazz, classic rock (especially the Beatles), and anything with a good beat.  (Please note that these lists are not inclusive, but rather a sampling of what comes to my mind first.)

I love words and language; I'm a linguist.

Professionally, I earn my keep through a variety of endeavors in the field of linguistics and I teach at a local university.

Seeking:

I'd love to find a like-minded man who shares some of my interests and my values of compassion for all sentient beings and stewardship for the planet. I'm iconoclastic and, some have said, a little radical. I'm an extroverted misanthrope.  That is to say,  I'm turned off by materialists and men who purchase bottled water or drive SUVs.  Obviously they don't care about the consequences of their actions.  Another "deal-breaker" for me would be if you have left your  (school-age) children.  If you've divorced (or never married) their mother and live far from them, I'm not interested. (Sorry, but I know if that had happened to my parents they both would've insisted on being near me, hence I just don't think I could ever love someone who neglects their children emotionally by not being nearby.)

I hate to sound shallow, but I prefer fit men. That's such a relative term in America where most people are overweight. I am not.  I lift weights, do pull-ups, etc... As I mentioned earlier, I enjoy long and/or strenuous hikes. Furthermore, I love walking wherever I'm going whenever I can. Hence I prefer a mate who is able to challenge me physically, or at the very least keep up with me. More than anything, I am interested in finding a travel partner and soul mate. Sometimes I get lonely.

I would like someone with whom to share my delicious homecooked vegan meals.

I usually do not mix well with people who believe in the supernatural. I am interested in scientific types, artistic types, and tree huggers. Are you out there?
