My description:

Hi.  My name is Liz, and I am a recent convert to 100% plant based after decades of a mostly vegetarian diet.  The toughest part of the change is finding new people with whom to share meals, walks to restaurants, and other food-related celebrations.  

After losing my spouse of 33 years in 2022, I am looking for new friends to join me on long walks, very slow jogs and short bike rides, home renovation projects, card games, trips to the library, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and volunteering.  Currently I work in database construction, and also volunteer building data applications, so in my free time I try to get away from the computer.  I am active with a local volunteer program which specializes in earthquake preparedness, and have also tutored young readers.  My favorite way to start the day is with a dark cup of home-brewed coffee, a bowl of oatmeal and NYT online word puzzles, but only after I check the news.

My spouse wanted this one dog so much that he went to Canada to get her, and now that he is gone, she and I have a truce that requires me to walk her 1+ miles/day.  Fortunately I need to be walked too so it's working out.  She's not vegan, but she does help me clean up the cut bits of broccoli and asparagus, cucumbers and carrots when I cook and oops, spill onto the floor.  I love cats, but I have a dog for now.

I love music and listen to it almost all of my waking hours, classical, rock, anything with piano.  I am not quick-witted when it comes to making up jokes, but I am quick to get them, and love to laugh.  I work out frequently to online and DVD dance videos.  I read something every day, but I like variety so I have about 10 books going at any one time and it takes me a long time to finish most of them. Non-fiction is my favorite, but I read both.  

I only appreciate fashion when it is on someone else.  I have not worn makeup in 40 years and I don't intend to start.  My favorite temperature is 67 degrees.  The floor of my SUV is sandy but otherwise has no trash.  I'm always dressed for a long walk or a nap, and my favorite thing to wear is a smile, with an open heart.

I hope to meet someone well-educated, who shares my interests and lifestyle, and who is also looking for a kindred spirit. 

Although I love to cook and don't mind cleaning, I am not looking for someone who thinks he needs someone else to tend all his needs.  Ideally you have skills and interests new to me and vice versa, so we can teach and respect each other's strengths. 

First impressions mean a lot but family is forever - I hope our two spheres of friends and family approve of our friendship. 

I am opposed to dating or befriending anyone who uses recreational drugs, practices extreme religion, collects weapons or keeps agressive or venomous animals as pets.  My best friend would be someone who loves their work and loves their life outside of work, someone who chooses fact over opinion, good over evil whenever a choice is available.
