Peacocking isn't my thing, so instead, I've often relied on my more complex, enigmatic nature proving sufficiently magnetic to others of like mind. And yet, my desire isn't to be a mystery, but to be known, understood, and appeciated; likewise, to know, understand, and appreciate what it's like deep inside you.
Some basics:
-Burping: no;
- Beer belly: no;
- Clean hands: yes;
- Napkin in lap: yes;
- Licking fingers: no;
- Watch TV sports: no;
- Cursing: on occasion;
- Underwear: boxer briefs;
- Need to discuss my work: no;
- Pad: live in a house on my own;
- Wine: yes. Mixed: yes. Beer: no;
- Need to constantly talk about myself: no;
- Enneagram: type 4 (termed the "Romantic");
- Tarot major arcana, single card: High Priestess;
- MBPI: IXXX (strong introvert, X=balanced on rest);
How did I become a veggie: I happened to be one of those highly sensitive little kids you'll see or hear of from time to time who at around the age of 5-6 question where meat comes from. Simultaneously endowed with a stubborn, strong will, once I found out where it *did* come from, I became extremely upset, and from that point on, simply refused despite enormous pressures to ever eat it again (my parents did successfully trick me a few times until I caught on). So, I've been at least a vegetarian since age 5 (no one else in my family is). Today, I'm less than a 100% strict vegan (I think it's virtually impossible to be 100% in today's world) but I am more than a strict vegetarian as I avoid as many animal byproducts as I can.
I'm a native of D.C. and spent most of my life in that area. I'm on a temporary stint here in Harpers Ferry (takes me about an hour to get back to D.C.), and plan to move back to Maryland in the next year or so.
I've 3 cats, one a mostly feral that followed one of my other cats home, and who came to entrust me because he saw that other cats did. The other two, I adopted from MCHS.
Realizing humanity's present-day enormous, and unfortunately largely negative impact on the planet, in my day to day life, I try to make my presence here a positive sum gain -- mainly by advocating for animals and environmental causes, and helping animals with whom I come into contact (and many who don't) have a better life as a result of mine.
Some of my many interests (not in order of import):
- movie buff;
- music buff;
- tarot cards;
- warm weather;
- personal growth;
- cool, old technology
- modern architecture;
- going for walks or hikes;
- healthy living and longevity;
- chess, scrabble, Jenga, pool playing;
- have interest in trying yoga and fencing.
Of the old tech one above, for instance, for fun and learning, I'm always restoring some kind of old machine, such as a jukebox or arcade machine. I've completed and sold one Wurlitzer, and am working on 2 AMI's. I've completed one Asteroids arcade game, and am finishing a 2nd, multi-arcade machine.
Some of the people I've admired in one way or another, at one time or another: Joseph Campbell for following one's bliss; Siddhartha for being one's bliss; Carl Jung for understanding one's bliss; Ayn Rand for the importance of values; Jim Morrison for the importance of balancing one's shadow side; Nikola Tesla for his untapped potential + underappreciated brilliance; Frank Lloyd Wright for Falling Water, Taliesin, and the Johnson Wax building; Michael Mountain for his Best Friends work.
