I grew up in Providence, and I've lived in Connecticut, Minnesota, Arizona, New Hampshire, and New York, before moving back to Providence, the city probably closest to "home" for me. I'm a school psychologist by training, but I've worked most of my adult life in educational research, focusing mostly on young children's development. I shared life for 12 years with the most wonderful yellow Lab in the world. But she passed away from cancer 2 years ago and I've yet to adopt another pup (I will soon!). I've been a vegetarian for more than 20 years, since enrolling in a class on animal rights law as an undergraduate, and a vegan for the past 7 (about time already!). I'm learning to play the Highland bagpipes, and I'm an avid reader and runner, a newbie to Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga (and loving it), someone who enjoys hiking (hiking across the Scottish Highlands in the summer of '06 was the best ever!), attending concerts of the RI Philharmonic, eating out at any and all restaurants that serve vegetarian/vegan fare, and the list goes on.

Hey, my name is Tara, and I'm a college student in Rhode Island. One day I hope to go to medical school, but for now I'm just enjoying life.
