Grew up in houses that were never without pets so the jump to veganism was a natural progression (reading "Diet for a New America" also helped). Have not touched an animal product since the age of sixteen and I can honestly say that it never really will be an option. I've been vegetarian for fifteen years, and veganish for about seven. The reason was simple; I've appreciated all life ever since I was little, and when I got to college the conditions were right for me to make the transition. Since then, I've expanded my consciousness and concern to include not only animals, but environmental protection, social justice, and sustainable living as well. I enjoy working out and playing sports and games. I love the outdoors (hiking, camping, etc). I also love music -- both listening and performing (singing, guitar, piano). It took me a few years post grad, but I finally decided I want to be a veterinarian. To describe myself in 3 words, I'd use compassionate, understanding, and delusionally optimistic. I've been a Vegetarian for over 2 and a half years now with no regrets. Well possibly that everyone I know chomps down on the occasional London Broil or White Castle burger.
