I adopted a whole food, plant-based diet after learning about its health benefits, and now promote this way of eating to patients (I'm a family doc). Later I became aware of the environmental benefits and became conscious of the animal rights aspects. Because it is an integral part of my professional and personal life, having a partner in my life who "gets it" about food is really important to me. I have found the dating pool of such individuals incredibly small, however, which is why I joined veggiedate. Although I love my "significant dog", who is an extremely good-natured but not always well-behaved Cavachon, I am ready to meet a real live person who meets me at the door when I arrive and is willing to go for a hike even though it might be raining.

Living near water is essential. I love yoga, cross-country skiing and traveling. Spiritually, I am Unitarian Universalist, which means I play nice with others and keep my mind open to many spiritual traditions. It works for me, because I don't have to choose one way of seeing the world and am free to explore many paths.

I think people would say that I'm cute but not stunning. Healthy but not ripped. Kind-hearted but not a complete pushover. Smart but not brilliant. Equally outgoing and adventurous as well as quiet and contemplative.

I have two adopted teenagers, who test my equanimity. They live with me part-time. Because of the custody arrangement, I have no ability to move out of the area for the next few years.
