My description:

ETHNICITY: I'm Korean-American.  I was born in the United States.  I appreciate my heritage, but note, I don't speak Korean fluently at all.  I just know a few words and phrases.

MY PHOTOS: I look different in my photos because I lost weight when I changed my diet:

Black Dress Photo taken in June 2015, before I went Whole Foods, Plant-Based (WFPB), SOS-Free (no added salt, no added oil, and no added sugar) Vegan;

Burgundy Dress Photo taken in August 2016, where I had been WFPB SOS-Free Vegan for about 8 months;

Red Sweater Photo taken in January 2017;

Golf Photo taken in June 2016 (I'm not really into golf, but my mom likes me to play golf with her);

and the Soup Photo taken in May 2016 (this is Dr. McDougall's recipe for Moroccan Chickpea Soup, it allows for adding salt, but I don't add salt to anything).  My current BMI is 19.7, and I feel great.

VEGGIE JOURNEY: Most people go vegan for one of three reasons: health benefits, concern for animals, or the environment.  I am mainly interested in veganism for the health benefits.  I have had vegetarian tendencies since I was a teenager.  I was a lacto-ovo-pesco-vegetarian for many years in my twenties.  I tried the raw vegan diet in 2009 for eight months.  I felt better in the beginning, but I missed starch, so I decided it's not for me.  Now I eat a Whole Foods, Plant-Based (WFPB), SOS-Free (meaning a diet without any added salt, oil, and sugar/sweeteners) Vegan Diet, oh and I also eat a mostly gluten-free diet as well.  My favorite WFPB, SOS-Free, Gluten-Free, Vegan recipe books are Bravo! by Chef Ramses Bravo and Straight Up Food by Cathy Fisher.  I also like tweaking the recipes in the PlantPure Nation Cookbook by Kim Campbell to be SOS-Free and Gluten-Free.

HOW VEGAN AM I?: While I'm a strict dietary vegan, I'm still transitioning concerning clothing material.  I still wear leather/suede/wool clothes and shoes. I'm keeping what I already have in my closet, but going forward, I'm trying not to purchase such items anymore.  Recently I acquired a coat with faux fur and a faux leather skirt.  I have switched some of my makeup to cruelty-free, vegan brands/formulations, but not all of it.  And I'm ok buying non-vegan foods for others, like my co-workers (they love M&M's) and my parents (they're not going to switch to vegan, I know this, so I don't force veganism upon them).

SPIRITUALITY: I grew up Methodist, but I don't go to church anymore.  I believe in God and interfaith understanding.  I also believe in reincarnation.

I WANT KIDS: I definitely want to have at least one child.

WOULD I RELOCATE?: I live in the Washington DC Metropolitan area and am open to relocating within the Washington DC Metropolitan area, as I can still stay at my current job.  However, relocating far away is unlikely as I would have to quit my job.  Are you willing to relocate to DC?

FAV MUSIC: These days I listen to a lot of Michael Buble and also the Hamilton the Musical album.

FAV BOOKS: One of my favorite business/leadership type of books is Great By Choice: Uncertainty, Chaos, and Luck -- Why Some Thrive Despite Them All by Jim Collins.  I also like Start With Why by Simon Sinek and Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek.  Two years ago I read Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow.  I admire Alexander Hamilton and wrote a paper on him in high school for History class.  I like that Hamilton was a proponent of consumption taxes instead of income taxes.  My favorite vegan diet type of books are The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Whole by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger, The Starch Solution by Dr. McDougall, and The Pleasure Trap by Dr. Goldhamer and Dr. Lisle.  Years ago I read Diet for a New America by John Robbins and it opened my eyes a lot.

FAV MOVIES: For fun, I typically enjoy Marvel Comics Superhero movies like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.  I also like Tom Hanks movies like Bridge of Spies, Captain Phillips, and Sully.  I like some Pixar movies like Toy Story.  My favorite veggie documentaries include Forks Over Knives, Plant Pure Nation, and Cowspiracy.

FAV BLOGS I FOLLOW: The Art of Manliness blog (one of my favorite series on this blog is The 3 P's of Manhood).  It may seem strange that a female like me reads the AOM blog, but I like the articles on the history of chivalry and such.  And of course, I read plant-based blogs like the PlantPure Nation blog regularly.

FAV YOUTUBE CHANNELS: Happy Healthy Vegan, NutritionFacts, and ChoNunMigookSaram (this is a YT channel by an American woman from Atlanta who moved to Seoul and learned to speak Korean fluently.  It's funny and educational.).  I also like Dr. McDougall's YT Channel, which often features psychologist Dr. Lisle, who was featured in the Forks Over Knives documentary.

FAV PODCASTS: Catherine Austin Fitts' podcast on her site called Solari.  She's an expert on financial and economic issues.

HOBBIES AND FREE TIME: I work a lot, so I don't have a lot of free time.  I do spend a lot of time taking care of my elderly parents.  My father has dementia.  My parents live in California, and I try to visit them a few times a year.  They also fly to visit me a few times a year.  I used to play tennis, go hiking, and go to dance classes regularly, but I don't anymore.  On Sundays I like to cook my plant-based meals for the week and pack them in tupperware.  Cooking WFPB recipes is my creativity outlet.  And recently I started volunteering with a non-profit to educate the public on the health benefits of a SOS-Free WFPB Vegan Diet.  I hope to volunteer once or twice this year (2017) with the Vegetarian Society of DC (VSDC).

TRAVEL: I have traveled to Frankfurt, Paris, Rome, Nairobi, and Seoul.  I'm not really into travel anymore, but someday I would like to attend a Grand Slam Tennis Tournament like the US Open or Roland Garros.  I love watching tennis.

CAREER: I'm an attorney for a federal agency.  I love my job and can picture myself working for as long as I have good health.

POLITICS AND THE ECONOMY: My views on politics and the economy are close to that of Mike Maloney (see his YT Channel).  As he always says, "currency is not money."  I also follow Peter Schiff's podcasts.  And my absolute favorite pundit on politics and finance is Catherine Austin Fitts, who speaks often of the "Central Banking Warfare Model" and "the productive vs the subsidized."  A really good source of economic analysis is Charles Hugh Smith.  For personal finance advice, I generally like Dave Ramsey.  I use his App to make my monthly budget.  He's absolutely right that no one should ever use a credit card (I don't).  However, I disagree with him about gold: I think gold is a good investment.  I'm generally pro-decentralization on most issues.

My ideal man would also be on a WFPB Vegan Diet that is, if not totally SOS-Free, then at least minimizes the addition of salt, oil, and sugar/sweeteners.  If you are at least Vegan but not doing the SOS-Free WFPB way at this time, that's fine, as long you are open to learning about it from me.  I'm also open to learning from you whatever it is that you're really passionate about, so long as it is health promoting for both of us.

He would definitely want to have a family with me.

He would have a positive, can-do attitude about life in general.

He believes in God and interfaith understanding.

He's confident, honorable, and chivalrous.

If he currently lives far away from the Washington DC area, he would be willing to relocate to the Washington DC area to be with me.

It would be wonderful to meet a man who makes me laugh and has artistic ability/talents to charm me.

You can ask me what else I'm looking for.
