I am an intelligent, articulate professional, who is a lifelong vegetarian. I am multicultural by ethnicity and upbringing, but I was born and raised in Vancouver so I'm very Canadian. Through my reading I have learned that my world view and personal beliefs are Buddhist. My strongest connection is with Tibetan Buddhism, but I respect all schools of Buddhism and also all other faiths and non-beliefs. I am contemplative and introspective by nature.
I have a very well developed sense of humour and a quick wit. I enjoy "educated" humour along the lines of Monty Python, and I enjoy ethnic humour along the lines of Russell Peters. I also love the Muppets, Kliban's CAT cartoons/art, The Far Side cartoons, Wallace & Gromit, and books by Dr. Seuss.
I enjoy the company of cats and currently have one. I have had large dogs before, but I prefer the relative quietness and independence of cats.

I am an ethical vegan and certified World Peace Diet facilitator. My vegan anniversary is 02-14-09, sobriety date is 11-11-04. I don't consume any alcohol or mind altering drugs, but i might be addicted to Instagram, which i recently joined. I'm not a health-freak vegan but staying fit is an easy priority!
Although I checked the "Buddhist" box, I'm not involved with organized religion; Thich Nhat Hahn's teachings feel right. The five basic precepts resonate for me.... In October. a Vipassana meditation retreat knocked my socks off! I was raised Catholic, attending Catholic schools until ninth grade--excluding 3-5th grades at a DOD school in Bahrain--when we moved to Oahu. (Both islands were amazingly culturally diverse and taught me a LOT about being a minority.) I like to learn about "others" on Earth ... and where ever else they may be. ;)
Life has been nomadic--dad was a Navy SeaBee (I loved growing up around construction sites!) and mom's part Gypsy. My journalism degree--after working in the industry for about a decade--includes credits from universities in three different states. I've worked most jobs a young, passionate photographer could want. (And a couple she wouldn't. =)*) Now it pleases me to do vegan advocacy/animal rights activities!
My other favorite activities include...being in nature, camping, swimming, thinking, reading, motorcycling, dancing, taking pictures, generally making life an adventure, and meditating...yet I manage not to do any of them frequently enough!
I have a memorable, easy laugh and a quirky sense of humor; I really enjoy laughing! As Gibran wrote: the deeper sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. I think a life of awareness IS an invitation to "pain," and yet the appropriate measure to achieve maximum pleasure. :)
September introduced me to Legendary Pink Dots--they've a massive catalog i might tackle!--lately immersed in Maria Dimension, Chemical Playschool Vol. 8&9, Tear Garden's Tired Eyes Slowly Burning.... But my favorite musicians (in order of introduction to them) include REM, The Cure, Peter Murphy (Dali's Car,) The Tragically Hip, Morphine, A Perfect Circle. I'm pretty familiar with their entire discographies but other bands i really like (in no particular order) are Concrete Blonde, Radiohead, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Tom Waits, Fugazi, Trevor Hall.

It's so easy to sound egotistical here if you just say the good things about yourself, but I'm not going to say ugly, stupid, psychotic etc. Sooo... clever, funny, well-travelled, compassionate, musical, experimental man. If you laugh at Team America, Spinal Tap, Lee & Herring, Peep Show, Rik Mayall, Zoolander and Fawlty Towers then we will surely connect in some way.
In no particular order, I am keen on: music, art, wit, kindness, laughing, meditation, animals, craftsmanship, nature, travelling, sunshine, photography, Yoga & Eastern philosophy, veggie food, swimming, saunas, Radio 3 & 4 (won't mean much outside the UK), massage, scuba-diving, hammocks and the usual great stuff! 
Though that's all true, a list of interests is obviously limited in what it can express because the most valuable perceptions require human contact.
I'm considered to look very young for my age - most people say 30-35 which I obviously like! Must be all that Yoga, cycling and veggie food. Perhaps also making sure I always love my work whether or not it pays well, being my own boss and not having had kids (yet?) 
I am always asked "do you still have the goatie beard" for which the answer is no. It seems to be very out-of-fashion at the moment (but hopefully never as bad as a ponytail).
I suspect that my quite deep interests in the Eastern philosophies that revolve around Buddhism/Taoism and Yoga mean that my potential partner will probably have some sort of similar or complementary interest herself. But to demonstrate that I also have a satisfyingly shallow side, I am usually only physically attracted to women who are slim and/or petite in body shape; please don't judge me for this it just happens to be how I am wired.

I am an international grad student working in biofuels and sustainability areas and I am from Sri Lanka originally. I am a nature lover, I love pets even though I don't have one with me right now. (The one I have is in my country and it's a cat). I believe in social justice, equality and cruel free way of life. I have been a vegetarian for about 5 years now. It is mostly due to my love for nature and animals, and partly due to my religion. Even though I said it, I respect all other relgions and faiths.
My life is pretty much busy due to my studies and work, but I still find time to read novels, (I am attracted to historical fiction, in fact I am always curious of history of anyplace or country or culture, I find reading about it quite fascinating), working out, walking, listening to music and enjoy a good movie or tv show. I drink very rarely and that's just a beer when I hang out with my friends.
I am here to find friends to talk and share ideas with, because it has been very difficult to find people with similar attitudes and someone who can enjoy a proper vegetarian or vegan meal together. I like to cook and experiment a little, but it is mostly ethnic food belonging to country, which is rice and curries mainly.

I spend my days in a dark room with quiet music and a blissful clientele... well, that is after they leave my office. I have been an independent entrepreneur for the last 10 years and don’t think I could ever be anything else. I am into some very weird things, nothing to be afraid of, just realize that if we get together you may experience things you never knew could happen, you will need to have a very open mind and strong sense of curiosity! I have seen the coolest things happen in my practice with the slightest direction of energy, and the unblocking of channels! I love my job and am constantly looking for new information to increase my knowledge and skill as a true healer. I have a few goals I would like to achieve, I just don’t know if I can do them all in this lifetime. My first is to finish my Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and become a Dr. This will definitely happen as I am currently enrolled and attending school! I also wish to get involved in research and/or the politics of natural healing and medicine as I believe there needs to be many changes to the current laws and what some corporations desire to put in place to protect their own interests. Another dream I have is to start a wellness cooperative that includes a natural grocery and indoor farmers market, a wide range of access to alternative healers, classes on how to grow your own food, self sufficiency and survival living off the grid, as well as continuing education courses for the healers and courses for the general public on health awareness. If I don’t get to do any of those in this lifetime, I would at least like to run a natural healing retreat completely away from all distractions. I really don’t ever see myself not working because I love being my own boss. Hence a need to get away from it all sometimes.
I have had 3 children, they are all grown and the last one has finally finished his first year of college and is moving out. Not sure how I feel about this as I am very close to my kids, but I am sure I will find things to do that I never could have before... sounds exciting yes?
When it comes to dating, I am a bit of a traditionalist. I love to be treated like a lady even if I am covered in dirt and grease (I dress up only for the occasion and would never put on makeup). I LOVE going to the mountains and just being one with the river or in the silence where I can imagine the whole world clean and undisturbed by man (something I have done since I was a small child). I am an activist for the planet, and for life and health in general, and try to be as involved as possible while I am a student, more so when I am not. I also like to stay informed from all sides of the fence as I feel this gives me a bigger picture. I am a bit of everything from activist to hippie to prepper to teacher to healer, and definitely an advocate of our constitutional rights.
I don’t stay up late anymore, but have lots of memories of doing so. I do love to read, and teaching is a natural skill of mine, however I am not interested in being your teacher or healer, if we are dating, you will have to find another professional :(, but I can recommend some great ones. I am a practicing Buddhist, however I don’t go to the temple and I am only “mostly” vegetarian at this time due to school and Acu Dr recommendations.

Going by category: Origin, Head, looks, profession, heart, interests? OK, I'm originally from Brooklyn NY but have lived in CA, FL, DE and MD. California is a favorite, and I would like to go back some day and live in San Luis Obispo, Pismo, Arroyo, or maybe Ventura, Calabasas...personality-wise, I am told I am REALLY funny; I find humor in many, if not most situations, and I am at my best with people who are upbeat and optimistic, not so good with people who are morose, depressed, etc.
By brain size, I'm considered pretty smart by people in my field; i.e., a kind of walking encyclopedia of health info. Have written and co-authored a few books, and lectured extensively. I do health care consulting, am a Certified Personal Trainer, and have a growing private practice in medically-oriented nutrition therapy. I'm in love with learning, and I like to read constantly and watch documentaries on interesting topics. That doesn't keep me from enjoying shows like SHAMELESS, CALIFORNICATION, DEXTER, BURN NOTICE and REAL TIME (with Bill Maher), although I am NOT a 'TV watcher' in general.
Physicality: I'm very broad-shouldered and kinda muscular, 190 lbs solid, little fat. I've been told I look like Perry King (an actor, though I can't see it) and Kenny Loggins (when I had facial hair, which I don't now). Women seem to like my looks a lot, although I think I am just average. (maybe it's that I smile a lot!)
Heart-wise: I'm sensitive but strong; compassionate and romantic but realistic. I like indulging women that I have close relationships with - I don't hold back. I do best however with people who can both accept AND give back. I'm a good listener and can be extremely tender with the right woman.
Interests: anything physical; weight lifting is a favorite, but you can get me out of the gym by suggesting we hike, bike, skate, canoe...whitewater is another favorite. I love foreign and Indy films, many kinds of music (lately Brazilian is a favorite), quiet romantic restaurants, intimate conversation, and attending meditation groups.
I have two daughters; one married and 22, the other 14, both in OK, who I see about 1-2 times each year. I'm close with both and I absolutely loved parenting, and the fact that both girls are healthy and happy tells me I did a good job! I love kids in general, and my pediatric internship was a highlight of my education.
Wants and desires: a female friend to share good times with. I am not necessarily looking for something serious, but if the right peson comes along, she won't find me committment-phobic!

I like taking care of people, and strive to give a voice to those who don't have one or don't know that they do. I love music and entertainment, and although I'm not an athlete, I love trying new things and exploring the unknown. Once we are a few years out of school, the usual ways of meeting people become less usual, and the odds of meeting compatible people drop off quickly.
