I'm vegan but I'd really like to explore a more raw vegan lifestyle. At this point it's 50/50. Aside from purely loving animals, I eat the way that I do for health purposes. I like to plan my life in percentages. In most cases (not all, probably about 50% of the time) rather than answering a question with a simple "yes" or "no," I'll give a percentile ranking of the probability. Please be aware that this is not because I am a huge fan of statistics, I just like the precision that can be found in my particular brand of decision making. There are those things that are extremely probable - for example, I'm 90% sure I would enjoy a hot bath and a cup of tea right now. I have been a devout raw fooder since 2001. It's a life style that has taken some getting use to, but well worth it. I own a small business involving alternative fuels for industry. The current economy has been a challenge, but I see light at the end of the tunnel. My parents came to the US from India 40 years ago. They were vegetarian in accordance with their traditional Hindu upbringing. However, they did not force us children to follow this diet outside the home. As my brother, sister and I grew older, we gradually decreased our consumption of animal flesh. My last consumption of meat was the day after I had to put down my beloved dog due to cancer in 1991. My grief and sorrow made me realize that there is no difference between the body of my dog and the fast-food chicken I was about to eat. I haven't touched animal flesh since then. I try to live my life with the purpose of minimizing negative impact on the environment and animals (human and non-human). My adherence to a vegan diet goes along with my respect and reverence for the universe. I've become involved in a local animal rights organization deeply committed to decreasing and hopefully eliminating the suffering and exploitation of animals for human beings' consumption and greed.
