I was never much of a meat eater and always a huge animal lover. I am an artist and animal lover. I never liked meat, and once I found out that it was, in fact, dead animals, it was all over for me. I became vegan about fifteen years ago after watching a downed cow video at an animal rights meeting. I try not to judge others for eating meat, but it's hard.
I am at a point in my life where I really want peace, harmony, and to just enjoy. I don't have any use for fighting or conflict in my personal life. NYC based photographer that travels for a living. I think a good first date is to go grab some drinks and see if their is any chemistry. La Jolla was great where I almost got to kiss the wild seals - till I saw the seal watchers suspiciously watching me. ;) I like movies, especially horror, sci/fi, or drama. No girly love stories, but if you're so woosy that you like them, I can suffer occasionally. If you'll try horror, I'll consider holding your hand. I'm a strict vegan in terms of diet, but not for ethical or spiritual reasons. I think it's a dramatically healthy choice, and that is more than enough for me. I've been a vegan for over 12 years, but despite that, I still find many forms of vegan activism somewhat distasteful. Sure, I do have a preferenace for not killing or harming other things. But if this is the only reason that you can imagine for being a vegan/vegetarian, there is a good chance that we won't get along.
I'm in Manhattan completeing a Ph.D. in Chemical and Bioloigcal Engineering. I have two bachelor's degrees. One of them is in English. Despite that, I tend to get along very well with pragmatic types. That might be one of the main reaons I'm extremely single... I guess like most people on this site, food and animals are pretty important to me. Ethics aside, I've come to realize I really value a girl who can appreciate a good falafel! My job is pretty solitary (IT related), so off hours I love to be outside, interacting with people or losing myself in the great outdoors. I hike, kayak regularly and spend a week at a national park at least once a year. I'm currently (re)learning the piano, its been about 15 years since I played so its pretty much starting from scratch. I'm really enjoying it though! I am a vegetarian for 8 years, with a desire to return to veganism. Right now I'm vegan at home, but make exceptions when I go out. I've accepted that I can no longer date a carnivore. I am an ethical vegetarian, so "ignorance is bliss" doesn't work for me. I feel ready to find a partner and teammate in life, but I am not impatient. The process that leads me to that special person that "just fits" with me is also just as important. I am an Occupational Therapist and a professional trained dancer. My family is very close to me, as are my friends. I'm a Sagittarius, so I love to live life and travel. Life is way too short to not experience it fully. I consider myself caring above all, I love to laugh, be sensual, explore, eat great food, dance, and enjoy good company. Yes I am a male vegetarian, and no I am not gay or even bi. :-p I just care about myself and the world around me. I have been a New Yorker my whole life and phased into the vegetarian lifestyle about 5 years ago(my sister was veg for about 15 years). I like going out about once a week usually to Huntington Village or Farmingdale. Other than that I greatly enjoy my Netflix subscription. I spend more time reading almost every day than I spend watching TV. Every day I try to do something involving me getting off my butt, whether it is biking, running, tennis or weights. My story doesn't come across well in 1050 characters. It's non-linear, like a Wong Kar-wai flick or a Roberto Bolaño novel. Between high school and receiving my Masters, I studied sculpture, philosophy, African studies and French literature and film. After school I worked as a policy analyst for Eliot Spitzer (please, I've heard all the jokes by now). Now I'm a social media marketing director. So, yes, I went from Art to Descartes to social media. Trust me, the story makes sense once you've had a few stiff drinks. Cliche time: I love to travel. Seriously though, I really do, and I'm lucky to work in a field that affords me a lot of travel time. Sometimes I even get to expense my trips (although it usually means I have to work too). I love languages and can speak French and Spanish. Some of my favorite cities so far are Seoul, Amsterdam, Florence, Paris, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Fez. I am very slowly transitioning to a raw vegan since it is one of the heatlhiest ways to live. I love all kinds movies, music and books. There' not enough room to list them all. I am work in progress in terms of my vegetarianism. People often take you to task when you dont eat me, saying "but you wear leather" I grew up in a house where meat and potatos were served on a daily basis. I just finished my PhD in nutrition in NYC last year. I've been a vegetarian (no meat/fish/poultry) for 29 years. I love to cook and give dinner parties. I'm also a fitness instructor and health writer. I'm very active, love to hike, ride bikes in the country, rollerblade, play tennis, and I've been taking bridge lessons for over a year and love it. I love concerts-mostly blues/ hard rock--classical and opera occasionally. Some things about me in no particular order; I've got the best friends and family anyone could hope for. I've lived in nyc for 21 years and I love it as much as I ever have. When I met my nephew for the first time I felt like I'd known him forever. At work they pay me to be creative and that's an enormous blessing. Great music and books can salvage even the worst day.
