I have to admit that every instinct of privacy tells me not to reveal anything about myself on the internet, but in 1984 my instincts told me to get a bi-level haircut, so I could be wrong about this too.
So, here goes: I'm an ethical vegan and I'm looking for others like me, or at least people who care deeply for animals. I have recently become very interested in gardening, mostly because I'm also very interested in eating, especially after peak oil really gets going. So you can see that I have a touch of paranoia, but only enough to make me get off the couch and grow my own cherry tomatoes.
It should also be said that I am mildly obsessed with dogs. I live with five of them, and they're very gracious about it. They let me pet and walk them in exchange for paying all the bills and feeding them vegan food.
I'm also not a spiritual person, so if you want someone to meet up with in the afterlife, I'm afraid I'm not the gal for that. But I'm deeply interested in making this life the best it can be, for animals and people.

I'm a guy who has been divorced for a while and, not pleased with my behavior in relationships, have forgone them. Six months ago, as a consequence of some demonstrated, behavioral change, I decided to end my emotional isolation. This message is part of that.
I'm retired from university work and now study the dharma, meditate, and exercise almost daily, write, sometimes read mystery novels, take walks to Henry Clay's garden, cook, ride my bicycle to the grocery, go to class (Spanish 101) and will be learning to play the cello in the fall.
I do volunteer work for the meditation center and am trying (with some success) to stay away from politics, a life-long addiction. My life is really good and, oddly, I find that not needing anyone makes wanting someone a healthier prospect than it ever has been before. I think I'd like to hear from people who understand that (and the next section, too).
