Well, I tried to retire, didn't take. After having sold a house in Florida, I traveled the world over and settled in Panama, where I built and sold a house, moved to Costa Rica where I had a condominium on the Pacific coast, inherited some rental property and land in North Carolina, joined an organic vege growing co-op and plan to work about 3 acres on a beautiful, pristine, foothills farm. I consider myself a non-repentant liberal having marched in D.C. against the war before "shock and awe." I am true to others as well as myself, honest, loyal, and generous, have a calm personality, and pride myself on not losing my temper. I really have a lot more to say, just want to get on with it. !I try to lead a healthy, balanced, spiritually centered life,and am grateful for all the good things life offers me. I taught kindergarten and first grade after college and loved how it gave me the gift of being able to view the world through the eyes of a child. I stopped teaching for 5 years to stay home with my son. It was the best job I ever had!Now that my son is in middle school,and has gained a measure of independence, it allows me to be more independent as well, and to focus a bit more on myself and my personal life
Separate from my son, I like to play tennis, do yoga,tend to my veggie garden, spend time with friends, and travel and learn about other cultures. Two trips I especially loved were Kenya for the safaris, and hot air balloon ride, and the Greek Islands and Turkey because it was fascinating to learn about the Ancient Civilizations where it all took place! Also like kayaking and most outdoor activities. By contrast, and for balance, I like to visit my hometown-NYC-for theatre, museums, Knicks games, and vegan food!

Also like Broadway/live theater and concerts. I do what I can do help "save the world" through political activism (environment, human and animal rights are important to me). I was just thinking how fun it would be to date someone who might also want to go hiking or to the beach for the day. I love being outdoors. Inside is good too though. Movies, restaurants, theater, museums - I enjoy a wide variety of things. I'm a long-time meditator and fan of western Buddhist teachers - Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzburg. What else? Well, I tend to decorate my walls with books. Reading is high on my list of favorites. I also love walk n' talks with friends, am diving deeper and deeper into technology now that I have an iphone which is the best toy I've ever had. I work crazy-long hours but that's partly my fault since I love the work I get to do. My three kids have grown into wonderful young adults and they keep in touch often...so life is good!

Hi there. I’m a single guy who moved to San Diego in 2004 for grad school. I earned an MA in sociology and now I'm teaching community college, which I really like. I might not stay in San Diego if a job takes me elsewhere, but I'm enjoying it while I'm here. I'm a music fanatic: I listen to a few different types of music, but punk/indie rock/alternative are what I prefer. I also play drums and guitar, sing, and write, but not nearly as much as I read, whether online or in book form. I will probably go blind from this like some modern version of John Milton. (English majors?) I'm a bit of a rebel, not in the media-constructed way of some leather-jacket wearing dude who smokes cigarettes and rustles cattle (though eventually I might get a motorcycle again), but in that I like to question things, challenge traditional thinking, and try to find ways to make things better.

For ecospiritual reasons, I've been vegan 25 years. I would love to live in a primarily vegan world (or at least a primarily vegan family or community). For me, the pursuit of a compassionate and peaceful world is a calling, as I believe it has been for most of the enlightened throughout time. I've written a book about veganism from an ecospiritual and deep psychological perspective (entitled "Vegan Paradise"). In my book I discuss "faunaphilia", a term I have coined which means how we innately love and need animals in our lives--hence our mental health is affected by how we treat them. I myself need some stress release right now as I am unsure of what my futre holds with the economy being what it is, and me being a single mom. I am also currently starting up a vegan coaching business--going slowly. Aside from that, I can say that I am an intelligent, hard-working woman, who is a survivor. I love music, independent films, and reading. I also like to write poetry, do yoga, dance and sing. I love children, animals, and nature.

I am addicted to learning. Though I am not a perfectionist, but I always feel that something can be revised and improved (that's the writer in me). I am a dog person through and through, and prefer peppermint tea to coffee. I don't trust cats. Hiking through the woods or through the city are equally appealing to me, but both are necessary to my happiness. I am not a fan of the suburbs or chain restaurants. I love the social aspects of watching a sports game. Living in England for a year was pivotal and I often toy with the idea of living abroad again. In fact, I just spent a month there this summer. I'd like to become fluent in another language, maybe Italian. When I have the time I spend it cooking, reading, drawing, hiking, saving the world... I devote way more time to work than I should, but I love it. While my primary responsibility is teaching middle school English, I consult, tutor, coach, etc. Hoping to narrow my focus sometime soon and reach more balance in my life even sooner.

So, I finally stopped trying to be 'normal' & became vegetarian in '89. In '93, I co-founded a vegetarian society & ran it for 4 years. In '05, I became a vegan. Love the outdoors..walks with my dog friend in the woods, in the mountains, or on the beach. Love art galleries, jazz music, 'Kinship With All Life' by J. I just completed my M.Ed in social studies ed., and due to the lack of opportunities I'm currently back in school to obtain special ed. cert. I also just applied for some case mgr. (behavioral health) positions that I hope I get. I love the outdoors and animals, and used to love volunteering at Ooh-Mahn-Eee farm sanctuary, however after 10 yrs. it recently closed down :o( I have 2 nieces that I love spending time with, and I hope to one day have kids of my own. I'm responsible, but I also have a fun side, mostly just a weird intrinsic non-sensical thing. I love the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and I became a Unitarian Universalist last year and now I love going to church (we're very progressive. i.e, we support gay marriage, we have an AR group, Budhist group, pagan group, etc.) Although I don't know her very well, I'm quite inspired by my Great, Great Aunt Nell who was born in 1897 (she's 108) and is in great physical and mental shape!
